hi, i am currently using N12U, would it harm the router for using TP-Link's 8 dBi antenna? i have been using it for a week already. coz the original one by Asus is 5 dBi.

hi, i've been using RT-N12 D1 for some time now. the first 6 months was very good coz i used unifi VIP5. but problem started right after i upgrade to VIP10. the max i got was 5mbps from speedtest.

sent to warranty in january and i just got it back now. and the speed is very unstable.
tested the speed at speedtest1.unifi.my
i test it every 2 minutes.

test 1: DL - 4.88Mbps UL - 4.82Mbps
test 2: DL - 10.12Mbps UL - 10.07Mbps
test 3: DL - 10.26Mbps UL - 9.86Mbps
test 4: DL - 5.65Mbps UL - 5.51Mbps
test 5: DL - 2.72Mbps UL - error
test 6: DL - 5.52Mbps UL - 5.47Mbps
test 7: DL - 2.34Mbps UL - 2.08Mbps

I am using the same model, and just did 4 tests, all averaging out at 10 mbps both ways. i tested at speedtest1.unifi.my and speedtest2.unifi.my, wirelessly via my laptop

have you tried connecting the laptop straight via LAN cable (turn off the wireless on the laptop)and check if the results are still the same? if they are still are, most likely an issue at Unifi connection. if it isn't check your wireless settings. and have you updated to the latest firmware?

i just got it back from warranty, and i cant update. probably latest already. i'm currently using back the original router TM gave, the D-Link one. speed test very stable @ 10mbps constant.

tested on wireless pc and also netbook via LAN cable. i only get 10mbps speed after i reboot router.

Hi xHj09,

Try have a check on the firmware and update it if it is not the latest as our networking device warranty are one to one replacement, I am afraid the new one may not be the newest firmware.

Thank you

hi, updated to the latest firmware. RT-N12D1_3.0.0.4_374_4561-g5f5c8d8

same result. very disappointing.

1. DL - 6.42 UL - 6.01
2. DL - 5.91 UL - 5.45
3. DL - 6.38 UL - 6.01
4. DL - 6.28 (was very fast. 10.22 till 94%, stuck for few secs and drop straight to 6.28) UL - 5.95

Hi xHj09,

May I ask, is the result still same if you use back the UNIFI router?

Thank you
*
Nope, I'm currently using back the unifi default router.

DL and UL very stable even after few tests

1. DL - 10.18 UL - 9.71
2. DL - 10.31 UL - 10.09
3. DL - 10.31 UL - 9.94

Hello ASUSmy

What does 'Parent AP turned off' means? I was using my RT-N12 as repeater smoothly for a few days and then all of a sudden it shows this.

I am using the latest firmware already.

My main router's DIR-615 if it helps.

Hi xHj09,

If the router got malware, I would suggest do factory reset and then only update firmware.

If your firmware are too old, do a factory reset too after the update.

Thank you

ASUSmy

Hi what is the access time in guest network for?

If I set it 15 minutes, does it mean the SSID will be gone after the time's up? Or will it still be there but guest would have to reconnect? How do I set a time limit for each guests' access?
