Excuess me if this had been shared before but anyone know how do I utilise the port 4 of my Asus ac3200 for Internet usage? I'm using unifi and I do not use iptv therefore will love to use that vlan tagged port to connect to my smart tv

I'm shopping for an Aimesh router (AC5300) as my spare RE-AC3200 do not support Aimesh. I'm using AC88U as the primary and looking for a place to put the AiMesh router so eliminate deadspot. I spoke to the salesman and they told me the following, wonder if it's true
1) AC88U would not work well with AiMesh as AiMesh uses second 5GHz as a backhaul. I'm currently using 5GHz for my home as well. (AC88U only have a single 5Ghz)
2) In order to know if i'll get full speed on my deadspot area, i need to configure Media Bridge connecting 5Ghz to my AiMesh router connecting to the primary router, if i can get full speed on my AiMesh router, then that's a good spot to put my AiMesh.
How true is the above? The salesman doesnt look too convincing

QUOTE(Andy72 @ Sep 11 2018, 01:11 PM) I have a RT-AC5300 as primary router and using RT-AC88U as a mesh node. No problems. Can get 952Mbps over the 5Ghz backhaul with iperf3. But I have found 1 problem with AiMesh is that it does not always use 5Ghz as the backhaul always. It depends what devices are connected to it. If only 2.4Ghz devices are connected to it, my RT-AC88U will use 2.4Ghz as the backhaul and slowing things down over the LAN ports. So I have disabled AiMesh and used Media Bridge instead. This way, I am always using the 5Ghz backhaul. Thanks for the reply bro. I need to use the AC88U as primary since I needed the first two port for my NAS link aggregation. Are u using the stock firmware or merlin? I was wondering if merlin has the tweak to force 5ghz

QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Sep 13 2018, 01:59 PM) Hi zher4883, May I know where do you bought the router from? Different region may have different channel available. Thank you Sorry to hijack but is the restriction on channel hardware or firmware controlled / limited? Reason im asking is i plan to get a router from US Amazon as they are having sales now. I also noticed in our Wifi settings there's a region. So selecting Asia although the set is from US is fine?

I’ve got a question. Will there be any issue if I were to mix different routers for aimesh? Will the entire mesh system downgrade to the lowest spec router?
I have the following setup Main - ac88u Aimesh via giga Lan - ac5300
Planning to get a ac1900 to cover another blind spot. Based on my setup above will the entire network slow down to match ac1900?

QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Jan 9 2019, 09:40 AM) Hi rayz85, The devices that connect to the AC1900 will have lower speed(depending on your devices WiFi speed) comparing to RT-AC88U and RT-AC5300 that has 2167Mbps for 5GHz. Thank you Thank you! And is there a reason why they recommend using the highest spec router as the main? I'm planning to dive into AX with AX1000 and since my PC and devices are upstairs, i plan to hook it up to the LAN AiMesh while retaining AC88U as my main router. Will i still be enjoying wireless AX when it's supported by my devices since im not able to configure AX settings (AiMesh nod) or i would need to ensure my main is AX as well?
