Hi ASUSmy,

I have a RT-AC68u for close to 5 years now - recently discovered that the wireless signals are not transmitting from the router, same for Ethernet. I used another router - my internet is working fine. Suspect the router is already busted, tried resetting but still the same.

I think I bricked my router.

Long story short - currently running AC86U as my main router (upstairs) and AC68U (downstairs) via AiMesh.

However, there was an update for the AC68U and I updated it via the ASUS app on my phone - installed fine and everything was fine. I usually turn off my main router at night because its in my room and will turn it on the next morning. Unfortunately the Mesh connection did not recover for the AC68U and I switched it off and on (restart) again to see whats up. This time, there was no lights except the USB2.0 lights (static) for > 10 mins. I pressed the reset button, did all the 30/30/30 reset, WPS hold method etc and still can't get the router to reset and the USB2.0 light is constantly on regardless of how many times I removed the power etc.

Is there any way to salvage my router? Or is it done for? I really like the AiMesh network, only managed to use it for one day and this happened rclxub.gif

Hi andrewtho,

Try to use the firmware restoration method to restore the firmware. Below link will guide you on how to do it.

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1000814/

Thank you

Hi, thanks. Unfortunately the router doesn't detect the LAN cable because its only showing the USB2.0 light, nothing else. I tried this method as well, but doesn't seem to detect it.

Hi andrewtho,

If the firmware restoration also not working, then it might be something wrong with the hardware.

Thank you

I guess so. I’ll have to send it for RMA, but not sure when since MCO is still in place 😅

Thanks for your help

hi guys, today my ac86u wifi mesh dropped for no apparent reason and refused to connect again. Didn’t show as node offline in asus webpage of the main ax88u router.

why is it suddenly dropping mesh after so long? i recently enabled smart connect, i know one is ax and one is not but would it be causing problems ? my macbook disconnects suddenly many times a day, and it sometimes does't reconnect automatically. it does not have wifi 6 so i dont think that is a factor

I'm actually facing the same issue with my AC86U on 5Ghz channel with my MacBook. I suspect it is something to do with Big Sur (the OS), because it doesn't affect my other devices at all.

Wonder when is Asus Malaysia bringing in the latest AXE11000 to Malaysia.

https://rog.asus.com/networking/rog-rapture...axe11000-model/

Was considering taking the AX11000 until I saw this 😩 I do have a couple of Wifi6 devices, so hopefully that 6GHz band will come in handy.

Existing WIFI devices do not support 6Ghz though.

The good thing with the AXE11000 is it has tri-band so technicaly you can serve 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and 6Ghz.

Yeah Wifi6E devices won’t see the day until end of the year, somewhat a future proofing router.

That Tri-Band on this is like the AX11000 except for the 5Ghz being replaced by the 6Ghz.
