The ASUS printer sharing utility causes random BSOD (blue screen errors) on any PC I install it on, be it running Windows 7 or Windows 10. Searched for the issue online and saw that its due to the Asus software using some archaic version of the drivers.

So I've stopped using it for almost a year now, and have to setup the printer the manual way which is annoying.

Has this been resolved? Does it work fine for everyone now?

I used a TP Link device before this and it worked perfect, never had any issues and could share both the printer and scanner function. I miss that.

Don't use the EZ Printer Sharing Utility, the LPD setup is perfect for my Epson printer. Set it up once and never need to change anything.

LPD doesn't work with multifunction printers, you're only able to do print jobs, I can't use the scanner function with it.

Hi RViN,

Can you try download the utilities from our websites?

The latest version should be Version 1.0.5.5.

Thank you

Looks like its still happening.

The vuhub.sys, which appears to be dated from 2007, and theUsbService64.exe are components of an ASUS router utility (printer.exe) to help setting up a USB printer to connect to the router and use EZ printer sharing.
Can you uninstall the ASUS printer utility?

There driver in use needs to be updated (vuhub.sys).

I've been using the LPR method for printing (which doesn't allow me to share the scan function of my printer) but now it seems even the LPR function isn't playing well, needing me to restart the printer quite often to get it to print.

So I tried this utility again, which doesn't work either, unless random periodic BSODs in windows counts as working.

Very disappointed. Never had any issues with my TP Link printer utility that allows for sharing of multifunction printers without problems.

Anyone faced this issue before? I'm running an Asus AC86U, never had problems with it up to a few hours ago when my internet suddenly became very slow.

I rebooted the router, and then the router refused to re-connect.

Looking at the syslog I see this pattern repeating:
I've tried restoring factory settings and that didn't change anything.

CODE
May  5 13:06:56 nat: apply redirect rules error!
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: PPP session is 44906 (0xaf6a)
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: Connected to 00:00:5e:00:01:36 via interface br1
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: Using interface ppp0
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: Connect: ppp0 <--> br1
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: Remote message: Authentication success,Welcome!
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: PAP authentication succeeded
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: peer from calling number 00:00:5E:00:01:36 authorized
May  5 13:06:58 pppd[1490]: LCP terminated by peer
May  5 13:07:01 nat: apply redirect rules error!
May  5 13:07:01 pppd[1490]: Connection terminated.
May  5 13:07:01 pppd[1490]: Sent PADT
May  5 13:07:01 pppd[1490]: Modem hangup

It keeps throwing that 'LCP terminated by peer' message. I was ready to assume the problem must be with TM since I've not done any changes to the router recently, but I thought I'd try using the TP link router that TM provided to me before which I never took out of the box. Funny thing is, internet works fine on that.

Looks like then its an issue with my AC86U? Any ideas what could be causing this? From Googling it seems the LCP Terminated by peer message is due to a hangup from the ISP side? Should I reach out to TM on this? But if its an issue on their side why would the stock TP Link router work?

I'm also faced this problem last hour. Now it is already connected. Hope you also get connected at this moment.

Yup, works now. Freaking TMnut wasted 4 hours of my life.

I'm guessing the TP link router was just lucky and manages to connect 1 out of every 100 tries, and I just got lucky it connected in one of the early tries. Made me think the issue was with my Asus.

ASUSmy

I just upgraded to an AX86u after using my AC86u for a long time, I have a DDNS domain registered on the previous router.

I received an error on the new router attempting to use the same DDNS entry so I Googled it and came upon this:

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1035881/

I contacted ASUS through the technical support on the website and provided all the information requested in the FAQ page above

The serial number of your previous router.
The MAC address of your previous router.
The DDNS name.

I just received an email back from ASUS support who are now asking me for the receipt of that router? Its already 4 years old, I no longer have the receipt. I don't see why its necessary to have a receipt to re-register the ASUS DDNS. I can provide images to prove I own the router and have it in my possession and that its my own DDNS account.

Can you assist or clarify? All my IOT stuff isn't working at the moment and its going to be a massive pain to reconfigure everything as well as set up all my remote clients again on a new DDNS - which is why I'm attempting to recover this domain instead of setting up a new one.

Hi RViN,

Is the RT-AC86U still able to connect to the Internet? If yes, configure back the RT-AC86U and create another DDNS name to replace the old one, the old DDNS will be released.

Then connect back the RT-AX86U and use back the old DDNS name.

If the RT-AC86U with latest firmware has the "Deregister" button then you can use this feature to release the DDNS name from the router.

Thank you

Thanks, that worked.

Should make a note to update/remove that FAQ from the page.
