RT-AC68U
recently update firmware to 3.0.0.4.384_20287
then another update 3.0.0.4.384.20308
but it doesn't seem to update or reflect the latest update
also these updates seem to slow down the network

even trying to open the router web admin page in local network need to take few seconds. it used to be almost instantly in past

what's up with the update? i'm getting a hunch that quality has dropped

Hello ,

I am planning to buy a ASUS router with VPN  enabled ..

But I am confuse as this term  “ VPN enabled .”

My target is to get  my house connection unifi 50 .. protected over VPN

Currently I am using Tplink Archer C2600 ...

I had done some research on VPN .. on this 2 ... express VPN or Boleh VPN

Which I can sign up to uses on my current router .

My question is

1) both option also  needs to spend $$ on it .
    Which is more justify ...

Change to ASUS router with VPN enabled

Or  sign up VPN .. services ..

2 ) my main concern is only on VPN  protection ..
Can ASUS router with VPN enabled  serve to my needs
Thank you . For your reply advise ..cheers

When you enable VPN through your router, your speed will be halved. The CPU on the router have to do the decryption/encryption process which causes the bottleneck there. Unless you install OpenVPN in each of the devices you have, you typically won't get to enjoy your full speed using router enabled VPN.

Other VPN experts with more knowledge can correct me on this.

If VPN is the priority, you'll need an AC86U. Dual core @1.8Ghz + build-in crypto engine. That should bring your throughput up considerably.

While AC86U is not enterprise class...should be good enough for home use.

What about we add mikrotik to do the VPN thing, say RB750Gr3, and set it up with other Asus router like AC68U? Would this work as well?
