Good day ASUSMY,

I would just like to ask. Does the RT-N12HP support streamyx?

I've been trying to setup my wifi connection but it constantly gives me the internet connection detection time out screen. When I tick the Special Requirement from ISP checkbox in the choose the WAN connection type provided by your ISP screen, I notice that tmnet-streamyx is not included.

Also during setup. I noticed the wifi light is not switched on. However I've put it down that it would automatically do so once I've successfully setup the internet connection type. Is my assumption right? Or have I gotten a faulty router?

Just some additional information. I've tried a firmware update in the hopes that it would allow the router to detect the ISP.

I look forward to your input and assistance as I've nowhere else to turn to.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,
BennyTheBall

Hi BennyTheBall,

Yes this router able to support streamyx, can I know how is the connection go about between the modem and the RT-N12HP.

Is the modem you using now is modem router or it just modem only.

Have you checked your streamyx password? Because it is case sensitive.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

Thanks for the reply.

Well my modem and the RT-N12HP is connected via the DSL cables.

The modem I'm using is just a simple normal modem. A TP-LINK TD-8817.

I've checked my streamyx password. It's the same one I use to connect from my modem to PC. It works then but when it comes to connecting my modem to PC via the wireless router using the DSL cable. It does not give me access to the internet except to the RT-N12HP ip address.

Even after troubleshooting the manual I've downloaded from the ASUS website that if auto detecting ISP does not work to revert to manual setup of ISP. I.e. Manually inputting the ISP username and password. I am still unable to connect to the internet and prompts me to input ISP username and password.

I have my suspicion that it could be faulty hardware. But the wireless light works when attempting 1st time Quick Internet Setup during the detecting ISP part. Plus my brother can detect the router on his iPhone.

I patiently await your advice.

P.s. As I'm working during the day time on weekdays and my office do not allow access to forums due to security reasons, I can only provide feedback at night except during the weekends.

Thank you very much once again.

Hi BennyTheBall,

The modem model that you have provided is an modem router, have you change the TP-LINK TD-8817 to bridge mode?

Below is the link to a PDF file regarding the model TP-LINK TD-8817, when choosing the connection type, you need to select the bridge mode.
http://www.tp-link.com.my/Resources/docume..._TD-8817QIG.pdf

Once you change it, you need to plug the LAN cable to the WAN at RT-N12HP.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

Thanks for the reply.

I regret to report that after selecting bridge mode on my modem and connecting to the wireless router WAN port. I am still unable to get the wireless router to detect the ISP.

Do you have anymore suggestions I could try? Is there any reason why I can't get the wireless router to detect the ISP? I really do not want this wireless router to be a RM200++ sink.

I patiently await your input. Thanks.
