Hi all, Do you think should I get AX56 router for more future proof or AC86 for better performance? I could see the price range is quite similar.

I'm waiting RT-AX86U, if possible that ASUS is launching this model in the future.

That could one way provided you currently using a decent router, but I just wondering when they will launch it... *million dollars question* hmm.gif  Anyway, I hope they would launch it soon.
Both of you have your points, i guess it would be down to personal preferences.  blush.gif  blush.gif

This is the rumor design of RT-AX86U

if using Ethernet backhaul for AiMesh , the AiMesh node LAN port still can use  ?

Only WAN port is backhaul for aimesh, all LAN port can use as normal network connections.

Why don't you just move your pppoe user and password from the Maxis stock router to your Asus router? Meaning that, you need to make the Asus router to become as your main router in order to use the Asus DDNS and AiCloud.

If that's the case will the Astro decoder see the Asus router to get internet( I'm using Astro IPTV)?

currently, both of them are set as router, 2 different DHCP sever, asus one is 192.168.2.xx, maxis one is 192.168.1.xx
*
The astro decoder doesn't care about which router that you are using. If you are worried about this, you can change your asus router to 192.168.1.1 and maxis router change to 192.168.1.2. It's doesn't matter.

Both already the lateset firmware.

AC68u - 3.0.0.4.385_20490
AC55UHP - 3.0.0.4.382_51915

on the wifi channel ? what is the "right" channel ? i had tried 149, 36, encounter the same problem. i have checked the channel usage in my neighborhood , no other wifi signal uses these channel as well.
i have captured the syslog while the wireless is "hang", please help to see any info. here might able to help to resolve the issue ?
*
I am still using my old RT-AC55UHP as Access Point, the 2.4GHz got problem but 5GHz has no issue. Before that has no issue on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz but 2.4GHz got issue since I upgrade to two RT-AC86U routers as aimesh. My house got 2 units RT-AC86U, on the top floor is main router and that is the place which Unifi comes into my house. Then living room is another RT-AC86U. So both RT-AC86U were linked together as aimesh. My RT-AC55UHP was put to basement floor, not sure whether is the LAN cable issue or wifi issue. 5GHz is working fine but 2.4GHz is abnormal. So I just disable the 2.4GHz wireless, and leave 5GHz wireless running in the same SSID with my aimesh wifi.

I have no issue on the 5GHz of my RT-AC55UHP. Sometimes my aimesh wifi only can reach 350mbps+ but my RT-AC55UHP can reach 450mbps+. Wifi speed as AP router is faster than aimesh router. I was replaced the two antennas of my RT-AC55UHP to RT-AC88U custom antennas. No issue at all and the coverage of 5GHz is quite good.

My RT-AC55UHP was flashed to 3.0.0.4.382_51915-g4086e57

Hello, I am still having trouble with my AX88U.

After the recent update, the random freezing and wan disconnects are happening daily now.

And when they wan disconnects and the red light comes on, it also doesn’t allow access to the routers webpage.

I have contacted tm and they say it’s not their fault, and I don’t have this issue when I use a tp link deco.

Isn’t it supposed to reset its own wan IP address even if it is an ip reset from tm? Why would it be constantly stuck in failure to get pado packets ?

I also only set the router to reset everyday at 5AM, so there is no excuse for it to hang and freeze everyday 😢

Any suggestions?

If you have install some others custom ROMs (Merlin) before, that may causing your router firmware became abnormal. I think you need to reformat and clean reflash the router (not the usual reset only, you need to go into recovery mode of the router).
You need to download the ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.1.0.2 from official website - https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RT-AX88U...pDesk_Download/

follow the method as below, skip to 4:23

When I turned on AiProtection, my WiFi speed drop by half. Is this normal? My settings pretty much all default
Using Asus Lyra Trio

Another question- how to delete off those offline devices that appears in the App's device list? No longer using these devices but can't get rid of them from the offline list

Thanks in advance
*
Not recommend to turn on all those functions. If you really need firewall protections, I recommend FortiGate-50E as your main router. Just turn your first Asus Lyra Trio as access points then the rest two as aimesh nodes. My office is using it now, using firewall as Unifi router will not affect on speedtest performance. I still can get 520mbps on download speed for UnifiBiz 500mbps.

If you switch your Asus router to access point mode, you may get maximum speed on your wifi. Sometimes I am quite doubtful that why my RT-AC86U only can get 250mbps~300mbps in wifi while my home Unifi actually has 500mbps. I have two RT-AC86U and another RT-AC55UHP. RT-AC86U as main router and another one as aimesh node. However, both main router and aimesh node only can get 300mbps on wifi. Another RT-AC55UHP is an access point, I can get 490mbps on wifi.

When I switch the one RT-AC86U from aimesh node to access point, actually I can get up to 480~490mbps on wifi. All of my aimesh node and access point are connected with ethernet backhaul. So you can measure out what is the reason that reduce wifi speed.

Does Asus DSL N16 support ADSL2/ADLS2+? I'm asking because in the setting, there's only Ethernet, VDSL and ADSL for selection. Yet when I select ADSL it refuse to connect.
The old tm modem Riger DB102 and D-Link ADSL-2750U can connect just fine.

Hi,

I just bought RT-AX3000 last month. I just checking the function for limiting the speed as i am shared the internet with my friend.

but when i am use speed limit, it seem all the connection are limited as well not as i am intended to. Example I limit 300mbps down and 50mbps up for one device, when i tried with the device that not listed on the client list, it just run fraction of total speed. It not like my previous tenda router where it does the job excellently...

here the speed at first without speed limit.

[attachmentid=10555074]

here i applied setting for speed limit for my friends router

[attachmentid=10555075]

running speed test again on same computer

[attachmentid=10555076]

disabled back the setting, get back the speed (no 1, 2 and 3 is same as above)

[attachmentid=10555078]

Is it the router have bug or it is normal like that. (as my previous tenda router, when i limit the speed limit on my friend router, he only get up to my limit setting, and i can get full speed up to my unifi connection)

hope can get some clarification.

thanks
*
There's no need to do limit if you really have 800mbps. Usually your friend won't keep download and upload for 24/7 unless they have 1,000PB harddisk and downloading like never ending. Usually a normal use user won't consume a lot of bandwidth, mostly just around 100~300mbps for doing some Youtube and online video streaming. Even gaming also not consuming bandwidth. Gaming is more depending on latency not bandwidth. Limiting a speed in your router will cause drop down your router performance. This will make your router performance getting even worse. So, just reset your router and don't touch anything in the QoS setting.

Be fair and everyone enjoy full speed download, there have really not neccessary to limit the speed with 800mbps. Mobile phones won't consume a lot of bandwidth, just leave it full speed. If you load a video for 5 secs with 800mbps by comparing 1 minutes for 100mbps after you limit your friend's bandwidth. Why don't just leave it 800mbps? 5 secs only won't cost you a lot. Besides that, not everyone will always getting 800mbps full speed on wifi. There is really wasting of time and wasting of performance to limit your router speed. As long as you need to get a good performance router, your router need a good CPU, more RAM but not to limit your friends wifi speed. Sometimes the reason why cause you no internet and need to keep restart that router, which is because your main router is not powerful enough. It's not about your friend keep downloading and using the internet.

My home has Unifi 500mbps too but I never limit my router speed. My parents all using the wifi on their phones and my mum also watching online video streaming and IPTV. I also download my games in epic games store for 40~50MB/s without any problem. They still able to stream their Youtube, facebook video, online streaming fluently. After half hour, I already done download my 50GB game. My home bandwidth get back to 500mbps full speed again. Fast and not necessarily to do QoS.

You should think positive way, bro. 800mbps is more about the problem of your PC running out of harddisk space fast, not about the problem of bandwidth issue. 800mbps is not a big issue as long as you get a powerful main router.

lol, next time you better note down your pppoe user ID and password. I think you need to call your ISP provider for help.
Usually if they can identify you as the owner, they should provide you the pppoe ID and password.
Just reset your router then redo everything.

Nvm, I found the trick to set the password. Must be containing $%^&* symbols but not including @. I set my password including with two symbols then pass the login password setup. I changed my router to https because I want to access to my home router remotely from internet through ddns.

I purchased one unit from taobao during 11.11. After deducted taobao coins it cost rmb 1358 roughly RM903.14.
*
Actually still not worth for me because the shipping fee should be quite expensive. Router is belongs to sensitive items since China customs are getting stricter then before. Last time still can buy electronic products products but after the China-America trade wars got more types of products being blocked for shipping out from taobao. Probably the price that you bought for RM900+ but the forwarder agents may charge you RM150+ shipping fee because this is a sensitive item. Unless you don't mind to wait for 1 month then choose to ship by sea.

I not sure about the China version limitation for wifi transmission since I do not care about that actually. My purpose to buy that router just because of its powerful quad core CPU and 1GB ram. My main router was placed at the top floor. Most of the time I stay in the living room, that's why I just need this router to power up two AiMesh routers and make sure it can handle my whole houses network devices especially for my home cctv, alarm, my PS5 and my PC.

I was just bought from isavestore (I was left my review in their shopee page) for RM1,143, RM1,139 for their listed price then deduct RM10 discount voucher to get RM1,129. Then add up shipping fee for RM14. The final net price that I paid was RM1,143.

Already check pppoe user is xxxx@unifi and the password is correct? Also set the IPTV ISP profile to Unifi-Home or Unifi-Business?
Try to do hard factory reset then redo all the settings over again.

Method 1
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1039077/

Method 2
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1039078/

If still can't then flash your router again with older version firmware.
Download the ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.1.0.3 from the support page.

Then download the previous firmware version
https://www.asus.com/Networking-IoT-Servers...pDesk_Download/

Here is the method to flash router firmware by using ASUS Firmware Restoration, you need a Windows PC/Mac OS to do it.
From the video steps inside, if your router default IP is 192.168.50.1, then you have to set your PC ethernet TCP/IPv4 to 192.168.50.10. Don't follow their instruction because 192.168.1.10 is not correct.

That would be no warranty with 5Ghz WiFi transmit power that's hard capped at 200mW. sweat.gif

Lower transmit power will result in weaker signal and much slower speed.

FYI Malaysia / International unit go all the way up to 1000mW.

Found this post from the China. Eventhough this router was hard capped but the Chinese users were able to "jailbreak" it by modding it with their custom moded merlin firmware "koolshare" then install the add-on "wifi boost" into their router. The RT-AX86U was further boosted up to 27.5dBm (562.34mW).
