I recently purchased an RT-N14UHP router. I've noticed that if my uptime goes beyond 2 days, my download speed is effectively halved; I'm on a 5Mbit package so it'll go down to 2.5Mbit after an uptime of 2 days. My upload speed remains constant at 5Mbit. After a reboot I'll regain my 5Mbit downstream speed. Is there any fix for this issue?

I just replaced my D-Link DIR-615 with Asus RT-N14UHP, but I noticed that the wireless coverage is about the same. sad.gif

I thought the coverage for Asus RT-N14UHP is more wider with the 3 high-gain 9dBi antennas or do I need to set anything?

Hi, which router is recommended for time astro iptv package?

Currently stuck with low signal in room due to blockage of a thick wall between room and living hall.

Current router is Linksys E1000 supplied by isp.

Thanks.

Hey guys, from what I read here, the ASUS router (ASUS RT-N12HP) doesn't support Astro IPTV yet...

So, I thought ok, I'll just connect the Astro to the Maxis router and then connect the Maxis router to the Asus router with the Asus router on AP mode.

But how do I set this up? If I just connect Ethernet cable to the WAN port of the Asus router it doesn't work.

Or if anyone know how to set it up such that Astro IPTV works and that I can use the Asus router as well, that will be great too.

Hi hahli9,

You can follow the guide below on how to setup ASUS router to become AP.

Hi acorlus,

Make sure the firmware is latest already and do adjust the QoS bandwidth if you have enabled it.

Hi Lynixx,

You will need to have support WiFi adapter in order to detect the 5GHz.

You can have a read at below article on how to determine your WiFi adapter able to detect 5GHz or not.

Hi jasonctx,

You can have a look at below models, all of them able to support TIME broadband.

Over 400m²
RT-AC3200
RT-AC87U
RT-AC68U
RT-AC66U

Over 330m²
RT-AC55UHP
RT-N66U
RT-N18U
RT-N14UHP
RT-N12HP

http://www.asus.com/Networking/

If you barely get a signal is the room, you might need to consider getting a repeater or homeplug instate.

Thank you

Hi Axell, i have the same problem as you.
The range of wifi is actually same as the stock router... blink.gif

Hi ASUSmy,

what would be the usual channel to use? currently is setup up as auto. Do i have a way to check which channel it is using since it is auto?

ASUSmy

Just wanted to let u know I found out the problem with my setup already. Its not the Asus fault. Sorry for wasting your time. It's due to wifi interference from another access point.

Thanks

Hi Lynixx,

Wireless range extenders wirelessly connect to an existing router and re-broadcasting the signal to cover wireless "dead zones."

When there is wall/obstacle in between the router and repeater, more or less the speed will be reduced to certain percentage depend what obstacle is that.

Repeaters start out with a minimum 50% throughput loss. The reason is that a repeater must receive, then re-transmit each packet using the same radio on the same channel and with the same SSID. If the repeater is very efficient, then your loss will be close to 50%. But if it's not, throughput loss can be higher.

Thank you

Hi jorineb,

You can go to router GUI at General Log->Wireless Log to see what channel your WiFi is.

Can you use some free apps also such as, Wifi Analyzer for Android and iOS. Or inSSIDer or others for Windows.

They able to help you scan your surrounding are for WiFi channel used.

Hi Asusmy,

Thanks a lot!
I will try to do that.
When updating the firmware, you said need unplug the hard drive.
What hard drive does this means?
or is it don't connect to the modem? hmm.gif

Hi jorineb,

This model came with USB port for external hard drive which is use for great feature such as AiCloud, Download Master, USB modem and etc.

If you have plugged a USB hard drive on the router, please unplug if first before updating the firmware. This same with NAS device which is connected by LAN cable.

Thank you

Hey guys,

Im planning to upgrade my unifi to 30mbps and will require an upgrade of the regular stock router provided by TM.

I live in a 2stry semi-d about 3.6k sqft in size and had always experienced a drop in coverage/speed while using the stock router (presumably due to size of house)

Appreciate recommendations on affordable ASUS routers (preferably within RM200-RM300)

Thanks guys!
