2-4 weeks. Mine was like 3-4 weeks. Previously.
Dear ASUS, some time ago I posted here that my newly purchased router (RT-N12HP) has gotten a very serious WiFi dropping issue. Like withhin 1 minute the WiFi just drops. Was advised to send it back to retailer to RMA it.

I have gotten that router sent back and received a new router set.

To date, the router started acting up again, the same issue. Does your product really have a proper QC (quality control)?

I started my PC which is connected to the router this morning and there was no network. I thought the cable was loose but no it wasn't. I had to unplug and plug it back in (the LAN cable connected to router side) just to get the internet working.

Your product is really bad and I want to return this router with full refund. Because you will tell me to wait another 3-4 weeks for the replacement and without a router how am I to surf the internet? Are you going to pay for my internet fee?
*
I bought my RT-N12 D1 about a month ago.

My model is similar to yours except your HP model (with 9-dBi antennas) have a built-in wifi signal amplifier.

You can set the wifi power to max (200 mW) and see how.

Strange. Mine is not the HP (High Power) model, yet my wifi signal strength is very strong and steady. hmm.gif

You can't go wrong with an ASUS RT-N14UHP for around RM260.

It is important that you flash the router with its latest firmware.

My RT-N12 D1 did not come with the latest firmware out-of-the-box, so I flashed it before doing anything else.

But you are right, getting a gem out of a bunch of lemons can be a hit-and-miss affair.

just asking
Between RT-N14UHP and AC-68U which one has better coverage for wifi signal?
*
The RT-AC68U costs almost three times the RT-N14UHP.

I am placing my bet on the AC68U, but I could be totally wrong. tongue.gif

You have to set your interface to PPP instead of Ethernet.

Here is mine.

If you ping google.com, you should be getting its IPv6 address.

Funny, my IPv6 works fine with those settings.

See my IPv6 log.

Revert back to the firmware before the upgrade and see if the problem still persists.

Hello,

I just bought the RT-N12HP. Managed to get it connected to Unifi.

setup the Wifi. Had some issues in getting it to connect to devices. Had to reboot devices before able to connect to wifi.
Speed and connection is fluctuating.
Had already updated to the latest firmware.
Is there a special way to set the Wireless? This is really troublesome.

Tried reseating the Antennae again and rebooted the router. Now Wifi is not detected.

Reset the router a couple of times to see if it solved the issue but did not.

Hope you can help

You are not the only one having wifi problem with the RT-N12HP.

Quite a few people here seem to have the same problem.

I am fortunate to have bought the non-HP version, the RT-N12 D1.

I have absolutely no problem at all with wifi, with 12 simultaneous connections, upstairs and downstairs.

With QoS properly configured, it can support online gaming, youtubing, torrenting and web-surfing simultaneously without breaking a sweat.

ASUSmy

Is it possible to feedback to your RD team to include an option setting for IPv6 MTU, I believe the current IPv6 MTU defaults to 1492 which is kinda high, it can be fixed by manually entering commands via Telnet but that's too troublesome to do it each time the router reboots/restarts.

Not sure if other Asus routers has it but my RT-N12 D1 does not. Using the latest 3.0.0.4.376.3602 firmware.
*
I have absolutely no problems with IPv6 support in my RT-N12 D1, but my firmware 3.0.0.4.374.5517 is one version before the latest.

My MTU by default is 1492.

The MTU can be set in the 'Account Setting' section under the 'WAN' tab.

What exactly is your problem with IPv6 MTU defaulting to 1492?

It's discussed over here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2978208

Many of us are using MTU of 1420 and below. Some devices don't play along well if the MTU is too high for IPv6.

I agree the default works but it does have problems for some devices, so if we can change the MTU for IPv4, why not allow user to change the MTU for IPv6 as well?
*
Sorry, but I still don't understand the problem.

What are those problematic devices you are referring to, and what exactly are those problems? blink.gif

Here are my IPv6 test results.

The firmware for my RT-N12 D1 is downloaded from the official ASUS Support site and it includes Merlin's patches.

Hi there. Just bought the ASUS RT N12-D1 router. In the beginning days the performance was like perfect. But after a few days, the wifi speed is getting pretty damn slow. Eventhough there are no other clients connected, im currently unifi 5mbps user. My wifi cant even get 1mbps. But my desktop pc is able to get the full speed.
Any advises would be really appreciated.
*
I have the same model as you but I have never experienced any wifi speed slowdown at all.

My router is rock stable, and it can stay up for long periods of time.

An example....

Are you using the same firmware version 3.0.0.4.374_5517 (one version before the latest) as mine?

nope. i think mine is the latest, becos i just bought few days ago.
Mine is : 3.0.0.4.376_2224
I tried to restore to factory default and setup again. i still got the same slow wifi. even though is full bar on my phone.
*
If that is the case, I suggest you re-flash your router with my version.

I remember another forummer encountered the same problem as you with the latest version.

You can download 3.0.0.4.374_5517 from the official ASUS Support website.

It basically allows you to use the external wan ip or hostname such as your ddns to access from outside of home using 3g etc or from inside my house using my wifi.  Basically same app one config and good for external and internal.

The old dir615 dlink has it.
*
I am using the ASUS RT-N12 D1 just like you and I am able to ping my external WAN IP through DDNS (sapphirecraft.dlinkddns.com), my Minecraft server, from inside my house (PC at 192.168.1.100).

I am able to access and log in to my own Minecraft server from my other PC (192.168.1.100) through Wifi.

Hi Raynman,

I can ping my ddns too. However once I appended the :[port], it won't work anymore.
I suppose your Minecraft server requires a specific port too?  How do you get around that?

For example, sapphirecraft.dlinkddns.com:7100 ?
*
The port number for Minecraft is 25565, which is port-forwarded to the local IP address of my Minecraft server.

You can't ping a specific port of an IP address. smile.gif
