Hi nitehawk,

When setting up ASUS router to become AP mode, the LAN cable from main need to connect to the WAN port.

Thank you
*
After the initial setup, shall I keep the LAN cable from the main in WAN port?

Thank you.

Unless you have a network hogger, I don't think you need to do any additional steps. As YouTube servers are pretty capable.

Every time I moved larges files, few hundred gigs across my network, YouTube will either display Hourglass or prompt error in loading.

Yes, my router is ac55uhp but my unifi only can get 300mbps as you can see my signature below. Currently is subscribed with Unifi turbo 500mbps.
You does not need to change cable as long as using cat5e, it should be enough to reach up to unifi turbo 800mbps without problem.

My new router will arrive soon, probably tonight or tomorrow. Will post feedback in here. See that is my router problem or Unifi problem.

I am using RT-AC55UHP too but I can't get 500Mbps when I run speedtest. What should I tweak to get full speed?

i don't think so u can tweak , but to change a new router
for reference you might want to take a look at TM unifi thread first page green text for choices of router for the speed you need

it is definitely the bottlenecking issue for this router. This is the speedtest result for RT-AC55UHP on wired.
[attachmentid=10053931]

I was noticed that, when my download speed reach up to around 300mbps, this router CPU usage will reach up to 99~100%. It was implied that this router was reached its maximum performance limit and can't speed up to further when its CPU usage reached up to 100%. My only advice is upgrade your router to solve this problem.

I was just received my new router at last night, RT-AC86U.
[attachmentid=10053935]

This router is powerful. What I only can describe is RT-AC86U is a beast. No more bottlenecking for speedtest. With it's dual core CPU in this router, it's performance just 1~2% CPU usage during speedtest reach up to 500mbps download.

My Unifi line is not so stable, sometimes 450mbps, sometimes 520mbps. The only best results what I can get is 521mbps so far. Which is the highest record I can get up to now.

speedtest result after I upgrade to RT-AC86U

You can read my feedback in here too.

Looks like a hardware limitation.

Thank you!

If I configure my RT-AC55UHP router using built-in OpenVPN client, can allow some devices' (either same subnet or different subnet) traffic to pass through the VPN?

Hi nitehawk,

We don't have the option to allow specific devices to pass trough the VPN once the VPN Client are connected to VPN server.

All devices will be in the VPN environment.

Thank you

So, just updated my RT-AC55UHP to the firmware version on AsusMY's signature. Speed is still around here.

The wifi speed became very inconsistent, on one phone 200+ on a laptop like 40+ lol

Are you using Cat 5e or better network cables between FTTH and router?
