2.4Ghz is for distance (max 600 Mbps). 5GHz is for speed (max 1900 Mbps) but a bit weak for distance. I am using RT-AC87 and cheaper TP-Link T4U USB adapter for 5GHz AC radio, the music files transfer rate is about 16MBps (not Mbps) or 1GB in 1 minute by wifi to WD ex2 cloud from upper to ground floor. RT-AC68 is a good router. Suggest you may do an in depth evaluation and "is feassible to meet your needs".
