Would have buy the RT-AC87U regardless of its price only if it was designed standing up like the RT-AC68U/66U. All of its ventilation holes are at the bottom and thats the dealbreaker for me..

My router rt-n16 is almost 2.5 years old. Can still claim warranty if broken? Go back to the shop or Asus service center to do claim?

Thanks

What's wrong with your RT-N16?
Is it dead or bricked?

power on no light.
Have you tried with a different AC adapter?
Find an AC adapter that comes with the same polarity, same tip size, same voltage but with the same or higher AMP.
Do not use an AC adapter with a lower AMP.

Example:
The original AC adapter comes with 12V & 1.25AMP
Using an AC adapter that comes with 12V & 2AMP is fine.

If you have the older HyppTV that looks like in the picture below, you can use the AC adapter from that.

user posted image

If your router still doesn't work even after using a different AC adapter, then that means your router is dead.
And since the warranty for your RT-N16 is already over (RT-N16 warranty is only 2 years), you can open the casing & check all the capacitors, see if they are bulging.
If any of the capacitor(s) is bulging, then all you need is to replace the bulging capacitor(s).

lex can help you replace the bulging capacitor(s). At a cost offcourse.
In fact, he can help you replace the capacitors with a higher quality so your RT-N16 will stay alive a lot longer. thumbup.gif

Hello, would like to ask
I'm using Asus rt ac68u for a few weeks now with unifi 10MB
Sometimes its giving me this problem

You failed to access to the web page that you want to view.
Reason for failed connection :
No response from the remote server.

We suggest you: (Need account and password of administrator.)
Go to Quick Internet Setup Page to automatically detect the connection type and RT-AC68U will detect your WAN type automatically.

I already tried restarting the modem, router repeatly
Alas no solution
I have to wait for 30 minutes-1 hours
Then it fixed by itself, this does not

How do I fix this? i was just surfing normally and it happened.
TQ before using the router given by unifi
Is there any solution?

Hi kaysure,

May I know what is your current firmware version? And what is the Dual WAN mode that you chooses?

The latest version is Version 3.0.0.4.376.2524.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN66U/HelpDesk_Download/

Thank you
*
I've upgraded to the lastest as you stated.

I realise that the problem maybe due to the fact that I can't rate limit the bittorrent traffic
within download master because at my traffic manager the QOS already states that the bittorrent
traffic is at the lowest.

The moment I removed the rate limit on the download master, it doesn't disconnect anymore.

That was before I upgraded the firmware from 3.0.0.4.***.1*** the one before the lastest firmware.

Thanks

Morning Asus technical,

The RT-N66U when it fail-over successfully from Unifi to YES 4G usb dongle (infomark from Korea),
it receives a 10.*.*.* ip address.

The system logs states that the DDNS client will attempt to ns1.asus.*.* to update the FQDN.

Then it states that the ip address (10.*.*.* from YES 4G WIMAX) is not valid ?

May I know why ?

I was looking at another YES 4G device called YES ZOOM gateway and in its technical specifications,
the ZOOM supports DDNS .

May I know how come ZOOM can support DDNS but not the YES 4G usb GO dongle ?

As you know when the DDNS client doesn't get updated when it fails over to the YES 4G connection,
there is no way for me to connect back to my home network.

Separately, how do I deny bittorrent traffic for users that connect to my wireless guest network or my
wireless 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network ?

Lastly, is there a way to tell the Asus router to disallow bittorrent traffic or disable download master when it
failover to the YES 4G connection because the YES 4G is pay as you use at 9 cents for every 3MB !

Sorry, one more question, does the Asus RT-N66U support the Celcom LTE 4G usb dongle currently ?
I have a problem whereby in one particular location the YES 4G dongle is unable to get a connection.
I was thinking of using another 4G device.

Thanks.

Hi.

At 1am last night, my RT-N66U gave me this error:

You failed to access to the web page that you want to view.
Reason for failed connection :
No response from the remote server.

We suggest you: (Need account and password of administrator.)
Go to WAN type detecting page and RT-N66U will detect your WAN type automatically.

If these diagnosis can not solve your problem, please Go to Setting page of the RT-N66U and you can check and config your setting by yourself.

How do I fix this? i was just surfing normally and it happened.
TQ before using the router given by unifi

May I know when this happen, is the DSL light on the modem still on or off or blinking?

Do try to update the firmware to the latest, the latest firmware version is 3.0.0.4.376.1663.

Morning Asus technical,

I've purchased the YES Zoom and configured it at 192.168.1.3.

Connected it to one of the LAN port of N66U. (192.168.1.1) in router mode.

N66U is connected to unifi.

The problem now is that I can't ping 192.168.1.3 once I connect to the
switch port of the N66U. Is this because of the VLAN implemenation due
to the unifi setup ?

If I connect directly from my PC to the YES Zoom and ping 192.168.1.3,
it is fine.

Because YES Zoom has a DDNS client, I would like it be connected back
to N66U so that should the unifi link fail, I can still access the network from
outside.

Thanks.

Instead of using YES Zoom DDNS client, why not seting up DDNS in the N66U.

Which ever line you use, it will still accessible from outside.

As far as I know DDNS client in YES Zoom can't be used if your Unifi connection is connected. This due to your internet connection using this line instead of YES Zoom.

The reason why I can't ping my Zoom at 192.168.1.3 is
because it was on port 4 of the RT-N66U which is configured
with a VLAN 600 for IPTV.

I tried to do a manual configuration to remove this VID 600
on the LAN port 4 because I don't use the unifi IPTV but
I can't.

Kindly advice.

I did explain previously that I was using the YES USB GO dongle on the
RT-N66U in dual-WAN mode.

And it fail over to the YES from unifi just fine.

But the ASUS ddns client says there is a failure to update the FQDN because
of the ip address given by YES .

That's why I went out to purchase Zoom because it has a DDNS client within it.

Do you want me to provide you with the error output from ASUS system log when
the DDNS fails to update correctly on the YES USB GO DONGLE ?
