This news is only important to those who is a recluse, a loner, who plays ALONE. Coz having an Xbox 360 is about playing TOGETHER.

What about those who can't afford Xbox Live huh? Playing alone is not bad. Before anyone even got Xbox Live we were playing alone most of the time anyway

That was then, the present is now. You cant go on your life without your precious Halo 2 every weekend can you?

Playing alone is not bad, playing alone BECAUSE you opted to slap a chip inside to play backups and pirated copies of games you dont have in your possession, diabling you from going on LIVE, IS BAD. If anyyone's smart enough to decipher where I was going with that post, it should be you. rolleyes.gif

Well Halo 2 happens to be the best Live enabled game that I have and I enjoy playing it so every weekend I try to get the most out of it. Obviously I can live without it wink.gif The fact that I only play during weekends supports the fact that I believe that life and education is more important than playing a video game

I can see where you're going, but not everyone is as wealthy as you and me. Some people just don't have the money to buy a subscription and original games. That's my main point. I support original games as well but still, think about those who don't have the money.

Well, that's where priority comes in. You are clearly smart enough to prioritize that playing Halo 2 isnt that high on your priority, so people need to prioritize their life. If you cant afford buying the games, you probably cant afford the hobby of videogaming, therefore it is not time yet. Maybe when you have a steady job and income you can revisit the hobby back again. I cant afford taking up paintball weekends or go on a hunt, or sailing, so i wait till i can do so when the income arrives. Taking shortcuts like playing pirated copies , hence playing alone, does not make it right for you to do so.

A lot have been taking shortcuts to hobbies, hence losing the essence and meaning of enjoying it. I would most definitely want to go on actual hunting, but it does not make it right for me to steal a rifle and starting shooting wildlife in some federal reserve. Same analogy here. Prioritize, if you cant afford it, it does not make it right for you to "steal" it.

But sometimes our common sense and our sense of right and wrong gets clouded by our insatiable urge to want something so badly. I want the BMW 7 series, but does it make it right to "steal" it? Just because the opton is there, does it make it right to take that option when you know taking that options means breaking the law?

Coz hacking is very much related about the moral implications of such acts. Surely , that rolleyes.gif is meant for your own message there. laugh.gif Coz there is no spinning anything to justify wrong deeds, there is justifying wrong mean to a supposed right acts, Robin Hood or not. whistling.gif

We both have our ways about it, im cool with that.

But what intrigues me is what is the thread-starter's ploy in posting this AGAIN? To rejoince in the light or piracy coming? Already the games now are as cheap as an original PC game for the Asian version, yet still people deluded themselves with excuses of piracy. Just get plain simple and tell us that you are an opportunist, who wants nothing for everything, instead of fulfilling your moral obligations.*This paragraph is not directed at you , Mobius*

maybe he just wanna share the story? maybe he want to tell everyone MS is really crappy when making security? plus, he didn't say anything about piracy. and if you read the whole story of hacking dvd firware, you'll know it need expensive equipment to flash the dvd chip and and a very expert programmer.

i think you are in delusion of the word hacking/modding.

I think he can answer that question himself, without having his primply short-skirt secretary like you providing excuses. You have more credibility telling your real reason for coming into this thread than providing cover fire for him. whistling.gif yawn.gif rolleyes.gif

Xbox 360 DVD Firmware HACKED
Written by SiliconIce
Saturday, 18 March 2006
TheSpecialist posts on our forums:

Months of hard work have come to an end. The 360 FW security details were posted a few days ago already, so why not make it official  It's been done.

Respect to all the people on this board who made it possible with their brilliant contributions:

Anita999, Geremia, Nayr, Bluecop, Interestedhacker, MacDennis, Phantasm, Marvin, Tiros, SpenzerX, Team Modfreakz, Fuzzylogic, Takires, loser, jasper, SMO, Groepaz, Zobyone, Jumba, Amadeus, Tser, DjHuevo, oz_paulb, DaveX, darkfly, evestu, Robinsod, Dark_Neo, Gael360, Seventhson, probutus.

Just for fun, here's a little video: http://rapidshare.de/files/15810304/360hack.mpg.html. And no, the team decided not to release a hacked FW. The security details are proof itself. The team advocates hacking, not piracy.

Congratulations to everyone who has been working hard on this project here in the forums and elsewhere. Nice job! I am glad that XboxHacker.Net has been able to serve a place in this community once again. XBH does not advocate piracy and we hope that these advances will assist us on the way towards our end goal: custom software for the Xbox 360.
A little more about the hack: it's a firmware hack that circumvents some disc security mechanisms. Executables must still be signed; the hack does not allow code that hasn't been signed by Microsoft to run, so no custom software or Linux yet. The door has now been cracked open though.

I think this one is the latest one:
http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=1303

I can see stringfellow keep bashing on piracy issues, all i can say is Sony sold more than 1 million of their PS2 thanks to piracy.

LOL... quote of the day!

If that's the case then Sony is making a net LOSS from those 1 million (or whatevery it is then number of people who buys pirated games exclusively) console since they're being sold at a loss. No money are made from those guys since Sony are making money from the sale of original game, not the console.

just wondering if someone offer a huge sum to the specialist, will he release the code? or not long later someone unknown will release the firmware rolleyes.gif ... it reminds me of ps2 dms modchip, the official site claimed their intention is to enable player to develop/access homebrew software but not for piracy purpose, however soon after the chip was released, there is an underground hacker group released toxicos, what a coincidence whistling.gif
