Getting Started

1. I would like to run Keynote/Powerpoint presentations from my iPad (3rd Gen).
2. Output would be through a VGA projector (not HDMI).
3. I know about the Kanex ATV Pro connector but this has to go through an Apple TV and through wi-fi. The mini display port to vga adaptor has its fair share of problems.
4. I would like the simplest set-up - from iPad to projector, and this must also include audio output.
5. If there's anyone out there who can provide a solution, and already using the iPad to make presentations, please help ... Thanks.

You just need to buy the cable from Mac store. It should be the 30-pin to VGA Adapter. Price should be at rm89.
It can work with most projectors.
As for audio, you need to connect it differently to the audio dock. Basically if you want both image and sound, your 30-pin and audio dock should be connected. The 30-pin will not support any audio.

Thanks. Yes, just got the 30pin to VGA adaptor, although many people have issues projecting what they want to project .. I am curious to see whether Powerpoint presentations can run smoothly and whether videos can play without problems (with sound, of course). Appreciate your input!

alternatively you can get the 30pin Digital AV Adapter. its a hdmi adapter. then you use a hdmi converter to convert it to vga + sound Something like this http://www.conversionstechnology.com/v/vsp...rter%20copy.jpg

Appreciate it. Initially, I was thinking along the lines of using Airplay > Apple TV > projector but the need for wi-fi makes it not so convenient.

I had the ipad 2 and used the 30 pin on many occasions and now have the ipad 4 and use the lightning to VGA. I upload my PPT to dropbox, then using the drop box app bring them back into the ipad and convert to Keynote. I use the Keynote remote app on my iphone to then remotely control the presentation on the ipad via bluetooth. If i have videos, i ensure they are converted to MP4 but will edit the presentation on keynote on my Mac, then download to the ipad.

Is there any 3rd party app that can play the main video formats on the iPad without having to convert?
