Hi,

Hope u guys can help me -- just to satisfy my curiosity. I used to own a normal al-cheapo waterfilter. U know the type that u can easily buy costing around RM40 with twin containers -- ceramic, thread-based or whatever filters -- that u need to change frequently.

Recently, i bought a branded Panasonic (single filter) fr a forummer.

What Im currious is the speed of the waterflow.

With old filter system, even after i've just replaced the filters, the filtered water flow out damn slow. For instance, I need to wait minutes for a normal 2lt jug to fill up. But, with the Panasonic it takes only less than a 40seconds to do so.

Anybody has any opinion on this?

It might be because with the double filters, water must pass through two points. More resistance. So the water pressure (and hence speed) is reduced.

In the Panasonic, water just rushes through one filter, so the pressure is maintained somewhat. The distance that the water travels from the tap to the filter's outlet is also much shorter than the double filters.

But the actual filter effectiveness will depend on how good the filter is.. for that, will have to research any labs that might have tested them for effectiveness against 1) bacteria & viruses 2) heavy metals 3) chemicals
