using smartphone for

skype on the road
ssh to server
winscp to development machine

dont even have a facebook account.

Im using iphone, Facebooking, surfing(google), internet banking(really helped me alot), gps(really helped me alot), play games, apps(there are many useful apps), forex trading on the go, watching astro, The star E paper, and ALOT lah!
I even likes and appreciates my iphone more than my laptop.
Only dumb people who never owned smarphones will say something stupid like that.

Dont scold ts la he cant afford a smartphone or too dumb to use so he emo la.

I noticed most people only utilize 10% of their smartphone features daily.

I would say it's a waste to spend more than RM2K for that alone while you could achieve the same result by spending RM500-RM700 only.

dude, smartphone=all in one gadget, how much do you think if an average ppl go n buy all individual function of gadget that smartphone can provide?
camera, speaker, media player, phone, gps navigator, internet browsing etc etc y not just buy one smartphone and get over it

you are wrong, sometimes i need to get any info from my chemical supplier on the go..
nowaday in my government agency as i work now use whatsapp as communication to each other to report any news....
and get any document through email...
if you know what you buy and utilize it properly, your phone have a worth...

How i justify my phone

My phone RM899
Free gba = RM199
free ds = RM499
free snes system = RM299
free psx system = RM499
games that comes with it RM50-150 x 500 = RM50000
free tablet (most things a tab can do a phone can do it) = RM1899
free laptop (most things a lap can do a phone can do it ie doc reading, torrent, manga, surf, etc) = RM2199
free camera = RM900
Mobility bonus (phones are mobile, hence they command premium to everything above) = +20%
Overlapping eliminations (some stuff tablet can do, laptops can do too. some games gba has, ds has too, hence eliminate) = -40%

RM55594 x120% (mobility bonus) x60% (overlapping eliminations)
My galaxy W worth = RM40027.70
Galaxy W price = RM899

I would argue the mobility bonus should be closer to 60-100%, because a phone is 100g. but a laptop/tablet,gba/snes system, psx system, tv, could all weight 10000g++++

hence, i would argue mobility bonus should be 150%-200%. This increases the value of my phone to RM60k-70k

I use my phone to test the apps I make or to test my rom development
also the usual fb/flipboard/whatsapp/Skype/viber
occasional gmail/email
the benefits of cloud storage

not to mention faceniff/anti/droidsheep
google now is very usefull
and battery life is a must

TS i agree with you
smartphone are not important

thats why i still with my 4 years old phone
however if is broke i may want to try smartphone(decent price and spec)

Everyday can see people use smartphone in train. Few k spend just to play kanak-kanak games and watch aunty tv series.

I also plan to buy a new phone, but I'll get that cheapest Windows 8 phone from Nokia. Gonna use it to listen to music with headphone and read useful stuff on my way home. Also gonna store some diagnostic software to test PC.
