yup..a few user root using that method without problem.
better quick if you wanna root this way as Samsung already issue the patch fix. biggrin.gif

one question though before I rejoin the dark side. After rooting is there a way to 100% completely unroot and recover to stock so that samsung will not detect it? will reflash stock rom, recovery, triangle away make it completely stock?

Well did you read the posts at the link? Chainfire's post mentioned that it *may* so some might. Most of the regulars you see here rooted the phone way before this hole was discovered, so we can't tell you if it increases the counter or not, coz ours is already busted.

Added on January 6, 2013, 10:21 am

Again, read the stuff posted by Chainfire on xda.

mind posting the links?

Bro, please....the link you gave goes to alephzain's post, and on the second post or somewhere down the line is a link to Chainfire's post...

So,......did you read?

A tip for you...read the post on exynosabuse, and read also the post on Triangle Away.
*
bro dont have to be so harsh, i've been reading most of CF post and he did not say anything about what voids and not voids warranty, just mention that triangle away can reset counter to 0, and status to normal bla bla bla. Whether or not even if u restore those to stock and able to clear warranty is not stated. I post in lyn to get feedback from msia users, and if you cant be of help then dont have to reply, instead of assuming others dont read and seeking to be spoonfed.

Cardinal Rule : Root will VOID warranty....period.!
Whatever you do.. service centre technician have a way to trace any rooting or illegal flashing. Only thing is..they seldom use this on rooted user so mostly everything went without problems.
But be prepared for any rejection as they have every right to void the warranty. rclxms.gif

thanks bro for the answer.

All those steps are only for precautionary actions so it wont be too obvious that we root our phone.
best steps before sent rooted phone to service centre
- TriangleAway to reset binary counter back to zero.
- flash official full stock firmware via PC Odin. (this will unroot..remove Superuser and also remove CWM)
- be polite and keep your fingers crossed...  laugh.gif

so far is there any known case of samsung rejecting rooted phones? cause i've been rejected by HTC for rooting my one x, so have to read more and gather more info before taking the risk again

So far i heard NONE rooted phone rejected but funny things is there was a few cases unrooted/stock phone rejected under that "root will void warranty" clause...lolz
Uncle Benny have around 5 or 6 times warranty approved while i have made it 2 times so far where warranty claims approved.

QUOTE(joytest @ Jan 6 2013, 11:15 AM)
Yes waveweaver is correct. There have been cases of phones rooted out of the box or by casual users who never did anything but it still shows rooted. Nobody knows the cause.
*
yeah i read about that too, their status was modified out of the box right? SME denied their warranty?
that's really screw up

welcome to the party forgive my earlier gruffness. So did your counter increase?
*
no worries. counter did no increase though status did changed to modified. Will not worry about it until OTA comes. Plan to stick with stock rom and kernel with root access for now.

THAT IS SERIOUS....looks like the phone went totally blank...did you do any flashing of N7105 roms?

If you cannot see your IMEI and S/N this means that your EFS directory kaput. Maybe try to boot to download mode and restore your eFS folder (you did backup rite) then do a nandroid restore (you did backup rite)

Don;t think anyone here has encountered this before.
*
i did the efs back up, nandroid did not since i use the exploit root which does not come with cwm...
but even i tried to restore still cant solve

Any SC quite the same..you just have to pick the right time.
Best to go early in the morning where the queue not long and most important thing is early morning normally the staff the still fresh and friendly.
You try go at lunch hours or in the evening..be prepared for long queue and moody/grumpy staff due to working stress  laugh.gif

update on my case: sent to 1u SC, they say have to rewrite IMEI so sent to HQ. So far they didn't check my bootloader and counters. I told them phone lag so i restore via Kies then become like that then faster bring to SC

Wonder if the technician will notice if I have root or not. I've return everything to stock and erased counter. Will get back the phone in a few days time i guess
