One tip to those who are thinking of trying OS ver 4.2. and above eg CM 10.1
Android after OS 4.2 has change the file structure If you installed such roms, all your existing internal SDcard stuffs will be transferred over to anew folder /internal storage/0 "internal storage can be sdcard0 or sdcard depending on what file explorer you used The point is there is now a new folder "0" Additional files will be created in the /internal storage If you were , say to reinstall back a TW based rom after installing a CM10.1 rom, this file structure remains You can of course copy back all your stuffs in the "0" folder to internal storage and than delete everything in the "0" folder - phone will still works fine However you cannot delete this "0" folder even using say root explorer. It will stay there The only way to get rid of this "0" folder is to format your internal storage in recovery mode. Copy all your stuffs to PC first , than just copy back after format Ver 4.2 and above allows you to create multi user in a phone. That means you can have more than one user having their own set of apps, settings, themes etc. The "0" folder is your personal folder |

Tested Redpill v1.0 on Monx rom 0301 since yesterday. All his settings taken at default and did not bother to tweak anything. Happy to report battery drain is better by about 1-2 %. Example last night , over 7 hours with 3G actively on , wifi off, gps off and with FB notifications, email , tweeter refresh in background battery drop was only 2 % ( i think is less than 2 % as battery level stays on even after an hour without use ) vs 3-4% on Perseus 29.1 kernel

QUOTE(fruitie @ Dec 31 2012, 08:32 PM) On the other hand, my battery tends to drop quite a lot these 3 three days. My Note 2 since day one till now, battery life has always being excellent on official to all the custom roms I have testedNothing has been changed. I have in fact reported I don't see any significant ( above 5%) battery usage differences between all the roms My 3G is on 24/7 and I leave it at auto all the time. Screen brightness is at about 10-20% maximum I have set power savings mode and I do not tweak any UV, OC stuffs. I have Juice defender Ultimate installed using too its default settings Battery is definitely NOT an issue with me unlike the previous Note |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 1 2013, 02:12 PM) If I want to flash XXDLL4 v03-rev01, I need to flash for XXDLL4 ROM first? I cannot use it with my XXDLK7 right? You can flash directly on top xxdlk. If you are on monx xxdlk just wipe caches will do. Other xxdlk rom select wipe data tooEr, I think my battery issue is happening again. More than 10% gone in less than an hour. If I want to flash back to stock ROM from monx, what will be the suggested way? Thanks guys. Stock rom best use mobile Odin ( to preserve root ) or Odin in PC ( wil remove root n cwm) |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 2 2013, 08:09 PM) Er it's fine if I use XXDLK7 and when I use custom ROM like Phoenix I chose LK6 modem? I remember I was given with this selection when I tried to flash it. You can flash any modem on any romDS is normal just that when I started using my phone my battery will start draining. If I switch off my screen the battery drop us pretty normalized just that when I start using it, the party will begin. Change modem as often as you like Till today I never change my modem unless the rom changes it |

My personal experience Kingston SDcards seems more reliable than Sandisk . However biggest size Kingston I have used is 32 GB class 6 BUT I do notice writing speeds is very much slower ( at least 50%) vs Sandisk class 6 32 GB

Just a reminder to new users. Do not ever attempt to flash any stuffs unless you have done at least a nandroid backup . You can use either CWM or TWRP recovery
This backup could be your life saver when your phone goes blank or cannot reboot |

QUOTE(BenSow @ Jan 8 2013, 07:21 PM) Still debating, lol I actually have green light to get this phone, I'm sure it's awesome, but do I really need it :3 Any college people here? College student ???Why you NEED such a high end smartphhone ? If money is not a problem ( freely given by your parents willingly) - go ahead If you are on a tight budget, DON'T . Money is better spend elsewhere. Get a lower end smartphone or a used unit Personally even I can easily afford it, I refused to spend such money on my 3 children. Smartphone is purely a WANT not a NEED. I do not hesitate to spend RM5K on a macbook air for them as this aid in their studies. Smartphones do not. Infact all my 3 children graduated from university with RM300-500 basic handsets ( and they used it 5-7 years) |
