Nopes

If you go to government vets then yes lah. But if private ones... not standard, they give different consultation fee and different charges for their services.

But not all the vet listed treat exotic animals right?

This vet treats exotics. He so far has treated snakes, iguanas, tortoises and I think more too.....

Cos last time when i went to a vet which they sell some stuffs in there too, I wanted to buy RC for my hedgie. So i ask him where they put the food and he ask him izzit for kittens, then i said they're for hedgehogs and the guy look blur like he don't know what hedgehog is

Hedgehog is still new to vets. When they study in UPM here, I think not really exposed to these exotic pets coz traditionally, these were not pets mah. But now more and more vets are learning to treat them but of course not like those in overseas lah.

Well, hedgehog is new to them. Vets here have trouble treating small pets such as hamsters, mice and guinea pigs.... ok with rabbits lah but the vets here are more trained on dogs and cats. Once I brought Chicken also vet dunno what to do lol

any of you ever met a vet before? (especially for hedgehogs)

i called one vet and asked wether they treat hedgehog or not.they say they are not familiar with hedgehog but invite me to come to see what they can do.do u think i should just go?

There is a vet clinic in Lucky Garden. I don't suggest you go there for treatment because the vet tends to charge a high price compared to other vets and he also sometimes administers expired medicine and vaccinations. The vet is indian.

pet safari inside got a vet clinic..em..got a mat saleh there quite good ...not all the vets there are good though...

i went to the ss17(used to be in SUbang Parade) and well the dr was good,and was paying a decent fee and given quite much information, paid 45 for vaccine, nv get dewormed cause doing heartgard later,60 for ear mites, T_T no one told me dogs can get that...no wonder my puppy can get dirty ears within 1 day after cleaning the ear.... and 5% tax and NO CONSULTATION FEE...lolz love that but juz temporary la cause they not get have aircond ^^

i used to go healing rooms..the doc there are really pro & animal lovers. they handle the pets with love & care, not as rough as the vet in pet safari. Anyway, i just got to find out that one of the vet from healing room has opened his own shop at aman suria. Details :

anyway the serdang wan named city pet is good, brought my friend's guinea pig there yesterday because of tooth problem and they just help him and now he's getting better.... the name of the shop is city pets...i think the vets there can be trusted

Just want to tell you guys, if you do take exotics to see the vet, better brief the vet on how to handle them for the sake of your pet and also the vet. Some vets have never handled certain exotics before. That time I took my gerbil to the vet she picked it up by its scruff, and some of the fur came out, because gerbils dont really have much scruff like hamsters. I had to tell her not to do that. The assistant after that got nipped by my gerbil because they dont know how to handle it properly.

Most of the local vets are not familliar with the exotic. IF something happen to my hedgie, I oso dunno which vet I can trust to look for here in Melaka.

lets say if i bring very fierce guard dog to vet..how can control our dog from biting vet doc ?

Get a muzzle and muzzle your dog's mouth. If you don't have one, normally the vets have. If your dog has an injury, the vet may need to sedate your dog if it bites and acts very fierce.

You can use a temporary muzzle. You know the surgical gauze? or you can use a strong strip of cloth. First you tie the mouth in a single loop with the knot on top, then loop down and tie bottom of the muzzle, then tie the back of the neck. make sure the first two loops around the muzzle is firm and the dog cannot open it's mouth more than half a cm. For the finish loop around the neck, make sure you tie it tight enough to allow only 2 or 3 fingers to squeeze through.

I wonder... would it break if it was a really really aggressive and strong dog? I tried it once but it always came lose, no matter how I tied it and twist it.... and it was a GSD! Wuuuu..... we put a proper muzzle in the end when we reached the vet.

Hmmm.. We've used it on rotts and germans before, it always worked.... But it's temporary so we use that opportunity to slip on a proper muzzle over the temporary one. But if you dont have a muzzle on hand, then it's a good temporary one. Mayb next time we meet I can show you on Haylie.

There's 2 newly opened vets near Jaya Jusco Equine Park, Sri Kembangan. Not sure about the add tho, I only went once and they havent launched name card etc. One is St Angel Animal, was told there'll be 6 vets in charge and the other one, not so sure..but seems they are specialised in cats and dogs.Will let u know the add if i manage to get their name cards. Anyway, ppl from MMU/Cyberjaya/Putrajaya..no need to go all the way to Serdang now

Please be noted that there is one vet that i am totally NOT recommended for anyone of you here to go there ...They are over charging ...

Ok here what happens .. I went there to check out on the price of removing the dew claw as that day the vet that i used to go already close. I went in and ask this guy whether they do have this kind of service. Then he said yes and it cost RM 70 per pup ... I thought i heard it wrongly . I ask about the price again and he said 'Seven Zero' .. what the heck man ...
So i ask him what is so special or any special device they are using as other place might just cost me about RM 15 .. then straight away he said 'Then you go other place lah' ... such a rude manner ... then i surveyed their price tag of other products and it is basically higher than other places ...

this vet was situated in Subang Jaya call 'SIM VETERINARY CLINIC' .. the vet name is Sim Ewe Hock or something like that ...

Juz add some info, MAYO clinic do teeth cleaning too, i have sent my dog there few days ago, for English Cocker Spaniel they are charging me RM180. Not many clinics offers teeth cleaning though.

There is no 24 hours vet.... but there is an emergency clinic.... You can call Animal Medical Center late at night... I think they stop taking usual customers at around 8pm but their clinic still runs for emergencies late at night.

Hi All, My friend did go to below clinic when midnight 2-3 years before. The charge is something RM500++ I not sure what is her treatment but she said dam expensive compare to normal VET. She also mention to me before you go, you should call the VET Dr and the VET Dr is not ready there for 24 hours. Can anyone clarify with this?

Late night emergencies come with high price. So midnight sure high lah.... other vets, if you call before closing time and say you need to see them cause emergency, they usually charge below Rm200 for after hours...

Anyway, better you call the AMC to ask about it.

Although I must admit that his clinic has none of the fancy shiny metallic stuff, he's one good vet. My family's pets has been seeing him for years and years already.

He saved my Golden's tail from being surgically removed. My dog chewed away the stitches covering her wound, so we brought her back to the vet to re-stitch again - and he didn't even charge us for it. ^^

One thing I do know is, don't visit the Jalan Tun Razak Animal Hospital. My friend's shih-tzu vomitted plain water but they hospitalized the dog for three days before discharging it. They charge my friend for tranquilers and a list of dunno-wat medicines and all my friend got was a totally zonked out dog. His dog lost appetite and stared into space for almost 2 days before getting back to its usual self.

3 yrs back ..i bring 1 of my fren dog over there(emergency sick ) ..enter at 11.45pm ... then come out at 12.15am ..they charge me extra RM 150 for midnite service ....wahhhhhhhh...nvr tell ppl b4 entering ..kesian me ...go n find ATM after tat ..midnite so hard to find ATM lagi ..

Wa lao ..next time around late nite ..if wana go Vet ..ned to bring extra cash ..
