Hi all
need some opinion here
last year i went to spca to neuter my female cat and the doc found out that my cat has kidney enlargement.she was fine after neutered but recently she starts to lose weight and that worries me
i wish to send her to vet but the vet near my house are either inexperience or too costly (i live in meru klang). I heard bout the hospital vet in upm but i need to hear some feedbacks regarding the service and price before deciding to go there since it's quite far from my house. is the doc there good and experience to handle serius case like mine? And are price affordable compared to other private clinics? Can i get some rough estimation on the cost for their service? If they offered good service wit reasonable price i think i won't mind travelling that far...or if u have any other recommendations pls feel free to share wit me..thanks

Just called up Hands n Paws this morning...not quite as 'exotic' as I thought. They don't handle hedgehogs.. sad.gif Someone should update the first post.
Went to St Angel in Puchong instead. They handle my hedgehog and gave it some meds for UTI..

Also can confirm more or less Kinrara Vet at Puchong will handle it.. (but I saw the doctor was handling a giant lizard for operation so I went to St. Angel)

My pet chameleon not doing well since last week. Runny poops and lost appetite. Now started to lost weight. Give a call to UPM Vet Hospital and they gave me a number to call to another department. What I get is wrong number. Fine... I call to AMC Tun Razak. They said they didn't do treatment for chameleon and gave me a recommendation to a Vet Clinic behind Zoo Negara. I will give a visit to this clinic this weekend.

SEE VETERINARY MEDICAL CENTRE

We adopted a mixed breed puppy at 6 weeks old. He was due for his vaccination on the 8th week. However, last 2 days of the 8th week, he had gradually stopped eating and was very weak. He had white gums and a bloated stomach. No diarrhea or vomiting. He only drank water.

It was easy to make an appointment.

I informed Dr See of the symptoms. He could not advise on what was wrong. Told us that the white gums was due to anemia.
He did a fecal exam. Turns out there were Round worm eggs in the faeces. But no, that was not the cause for anemia.

In order to check for the underlying cause, we were advised to do a number of test.

I requested for a breakdown.

Consultation RM40
Fecal Exam RM10
SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test) Test RM90
PBF (Peripheral Blood Film) Test RM20
Ultrasound RM100
F & A Test (fine needle aspiration cytology) RM20
CBC (complete blood count) Test RM40

Total RM320 + 6%GST RM19.20
= RM339.20

The blood test revealed that there was a parasite in his blood cells. So our puppy had Tick Fever (it's like dengue). The rest of the test were negative.
(http://www.eastislandvets.com.hk/en/pet-emergencies/Tick-Fever)

Dr See advised that even with an injection to get rid of the parasite, our puppy will have to go on drips and stay there till he gets a blood transfusion.

RM1000++ for in-house drips
RM200++ injection for parasite
RM400++ blood transfusion per visit

Blood transfusion will need some time in order to check for availability.

We were told that the chances of survival is below 50% and our puppy might need more than 1 blood transfusion.

We were also advised to do another test in order to check the kidney and liver function. It was estimated at RM100-RM200.
We declined it as we did not see it as necessary after discovering the results of the blood test.

So that's our experience.
