I took my Persona for a ride to Genting. Wah, the brake is really useless even I avoided excessive braking by using 2nd gear. It faded until totally lost grip when fully pressed. Front brake pad faded or rear faded/overheated?

Even after getting Bendix Metal King Titanium pads for mine, on straights braking the car feels like it's going down a slope with the brakes fully pressed. So yes, the brakes are shit, and especially on hills. |

QUOTE(muslayer @ Jan 8 2013, 07:48 PM) Really? See above, changing pads also didn't help. I'm afraid is the rear drum brakes cannot dissipate heat and overheated. |

Changing pads does help, but if you don't upgrade any other parts of the braking system then it's best you drive predictively. Works most of the time for me, but occasionally it can still get hairy.Really? See above, changing pads also didn't help. I'm afraid is the rear drum brakes cannot dissipate heat and overheated. |

I was driving slow, in fact I take all speed bumps slowly, hence I brake to 20KM/h or less usually. My downhill speed is about 40KM/h with 2nd gear. Even that little braking, end up had faded brakes after few KM. Because of my slow speed, it was no issue, but I can guess if there is an emergency braking needed, my car can't stop in time.

Front brake pad faded or rear faded/overheated? firstly is the ori brake pad memang not good enuf. then also rear brake not helping as it get more heated up than the the disc brake. as you go downhill, front disc brake hold up more. when you have 4 disc brake, when the front is heated up, the rear brake which has less heat at least help in grabbing the car. So yes, the brakes are shit, and especially on hills. well, bendix metal king titanium pads are only rated 450'C and unless you are using H-line, the pump is not powerful enuf also hence the feeling. another thing is hills like genting if drive normal, I think 500'C pad is ok. those touge ppl will use a higher rating one. So far, the review from RS and pumatec is that it bite all the way with no problem for genting also. but I am a bit sceptical with RS for its noise. |
