hi guys...im taking my spm this year...i m really intrested to become a lae...i heard that MAS and AirAsia have courses such as TAME with 10 years bond with the company?...erm...my question is...can i apply such couses from MAS or AirAsia with a spm cert and how can i apply it? is the course still available and whens the intake?.... and also...such courses....compared to diploma / degree from college / university (MIAT or Nilai) which is better? course from MAS or Airasia stress on on-job training rather than course? i really prefer to go out and get my hand dirty than reading books...thx

i wud go to miat if i were u, even if miat is a fortress surrounded by a jungle.. tongue.gif
the only thing is just that, if ure not really into the aircraft maintenance, u can choose either to become a lecturer-->theyll send u to oversea and u just name which country u wanna go, or there was once of Miat fren(coz i was Mas/miat trainee), he had a chance to do so, but he turned it down but he choosed his dream to be a pilot, so Mara fully sponsored his training at flying school at kelantan, forgot the name la, and once he passed n got his atpl,he  have recieved offer later from MAS n they hired them..so miat is a good working prospect imo, the thing is just that u can see some babi hutan at the outer fence surronding miat, its kinda funny tho rclxms.gif

but...is it difficult for non-bumiputera to enroll in miat? since its under mara

QUOTE(hirari @ Nov 8 2008, 06:01 PM)
Well for one thing, the people who decide whether you're an LAE or not is the competent authority DCA and not MIAT. MIAT is just where they train the aviation workforce in general, the mechanics, technicians, and ultimately cultured some potential LAEs. POTENTIAL LAEs. Not guaranteed LAEs right after they graduated MIAT.

Being an LAE might sounds appealing as it is but believe me when say it is not easy, it will be hard, and that's the truth. I know a person who took the exams with DCA for 22 times (yes, 22 times!) before they finally handed him the license. Most people would have already given up after one or two failed attempts. And even if you do become one, it's going to be a very tough job.

You gotta have a really strong heart if you want to get involve in this business. Yes, the pay is good. But with great salary comes great responsibility. So you have to ask yourself, are you really up for it? Will you have the strength to see it thru to the end? From enrolling in a training school to becoming a type-rated LAE? If you think you do then by all means go for it. Aviation is an interesting field and i encourage you all to be a part of it.

lol...u doesnt sound like encouraging...anyway...i'll still accept that challenge flex.gif

there's 6 courses available at miat...Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology (Avionics) / Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology (Composites) / Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology (Manufacturing) /Diploma of Engineering Technology in Avionics Maintenance / Diploma of Engineering Technology in Helicopter Maintenance / Diploma of Engineering Technology in Aeroplane Maintenance...which is better?

I think you can start filling your application form after the SPM/STPM results came out. Did you know you can get the application form at the nearest MARA office? If you’re going for the July intake, you can start sending your application in April, and then they’ll call you for the interview in May.
*
erm...interview? damn....i din expect that...what'll they ask? hw can i prepare it?
