No point getting a degree. What u REALLY need is LWTR
That's if u REALLY just want to become an aircraft engineer

so hows ur spm??

aah i'm waitin 4 d recruitment jugak~

miat??swasta kan?

got scholarship x?

My SPM ok ok je biggrin.gif urs?
MIAT private. It is under UniKL which is under MARA so usually in terms of scholarship/fees no problem.
It's just that I've heard a lot of ppl saying its not worth getting a diploma since it actually have no effect whatsoever on our AME career.
We just have to try applying (n have luck on our side) the AK/MH lame program.
After all the only thing that matters it the LWTR.

mowkey,
u are correct, if u are saying that, 2 years ago. local airliners now demand diploma grads for their TAME program.

and true, LAME don't require u to have diploma, degree or whatever.

contradictory statement, right?
*
For MAS yes but AirAsia still allow SPM right? Or I'm wrong icon_question.gif
TAME program is usually 5years, right?

So that's 3 + 5 = 8yrs of studying before actually becoming an aircraft engineer is it?

this thread dead already ah. where have all the sifus gone?
lemme 'revive' this thread.
ok ill ask a question, for MIAT ppl. Since the requirement to sit the DCA LWTR exam is work experience for 5 years, how come some MIAT students can sit for it at the end of their diploma? How & when & where did they get to fill up their work schedule?

Please help me clear up my doubts tongue.gif

Plz..anyone who already become LAME, mechanic, miat graduate and who work with DCA.Plz contribute idea and information.

About how long to become LAME after grad dip/degree at MIAT

could I take Licensed Without Type Rating after grad from MIAT.?. (I have ask en.Jaldin(bhgn pengambilan miat).he say bcoz miat is approved school, stdnt can take LWTR after grad without job experienced. It is true?(if we think with logic, how come student can sit license exam without job experience?) I dont know if he cheat me just bcoz he want me to enter miat or maybe it is true to all grad from miat or only for elligible...

How about the job market around the world..can we only go working at other country with tech/mec aircraft level?
anyone who become LAME in other country plz contribute your experience and idea..plz share also how much ur salary..keh keh keh
what is the starting salary for aircraft mechanic and fresh LAME?

And also i want to know the different between degree prog. and dip program at miat coz i heard from somebody to become LAME, degree and diplomA IS NOT NEEDED..the important is licensed.. diploma and degree is just a preparation(knowledge) to enter license exam..it is true?mean even u have a degree from miat u are still mechanic if u still did not sit licensed exam and pass..It is true?

Plz contribute ur idea. i will enter MIAT this july...

We are still baby who need knowledges, information and inspiration.....

Have you gone through all the posts in this thread? If u haven't u should because you'll find many really important infos.

I am not a LAME myself but I've been asking around the same questions that u have so I'll try answer them.

To become a LAME (with at least 1 type rating) after u grad from MIAT depends on u urself. Some can do it 1 or 2 years after & some are still technician/mechanics

U can take LWTR straight after MIAT. During ur final sem u have to attend extra night tutorials to prepare u.

usually people will only go oversea after they have become LAME. Salary is very high

Mechanic salary range from 1k -3k after allowance and such. Fresh LAME basic is over 2k, if u add in type rating allowance & OT and so on it'll reach 4 or 5k perhaps

currently, diploma & degree not important at all. even if u have PHD & u wanna become LAME u have sit for LWTR & go through same process just like everyone else

hope that helps a bit

It's not a TAME program. Work/training schedule will be arranged & I think MIAT students have some exemption in terms of exp because of their recent recognition by DCA.
Please call them up if you need more detailed & accurate explanation..

@Prince Handsome: u are accepted for MIAT this july? Congrats!

@lestat: Thanks for the explanation. Another thing, how do you think the oil inflation will affect the aviation industry? Not very much? Greatly affect?! Heh I just wanna hear your opinion smile.gif
