hi there, i would like to ask some of u guys opinion on age wise to become a LAME... coz currently i'm 25 this year and i'm finishing my course in june....my course major in turbine, piston, and avionics..... i took up aircraft engineering course when i was 22... got long story behind tat... coz u might ask why i did not enrolled after my SPM, it was due to personal family problems... tat's why i delayed...so the question is am i to late to qualify as an aircraft engineer.... and further more does the industry take in fresh graduates like me at the age of 25... and if yes where am i positioned.... but currently i'm doin EASA too as part time dun rather waste time..... i've gone through only human factors so far..... it makes me look that i couldn't go far coz of age wise.... pls help me to drop in ur opinion, advise or suggestion what should i do from here.... thank you,

Hi guys...i jus finnish my SPM last year !!!!

and i'm new to this forum and i have a question in mind to ask u guys...
if i study Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering in one of Singapore's college...
can i still be LAME rather than if i study in NILAI/MIAT......
Could any one help me ??? cry.gif

it actually depends on the singapore college management on how to bring up their students.....
the most important part in order to become a LAME, no matter where u study also is the license cat.
When u go inside the industry no 1 wanna look at ur marks that u get for ur diploma or ur degree but rather they all will ask u "WHAT WHAT license u got haa.."
then wat's the point studying diploma wasting 3 years doing teori..
if u have got ur 1st license ur registered under world recognition by CAA that's for EASA, but for BCAR section L which is malaysia u need to undergo another test.....
which is air legislation... or law of the country.... this BCAR conversion license is done in DCA too...
as for malaysia...

*so if u ask me like nilai/miat or even singapore all this colleges are just like driving school... u learn then u get ur driving license issued by JPJ, here JPJ is like CAA issuing license for qualified engineers.. so better think twice.... b4 u step ur foot in a ditch..... once ur down there is no way turning back.. icon_question.gif

TOP 6 REQUIREMENTS FOR EASA PART-66... thumbup.gif

* EASA LAME LAE-Should be 21 years of age. flex.gif
* ONCE U FAILED THE PAPER, U CANNOT RE-SIT THE PAPER BACK FOR ATLEAST 90 DAYS. shakehead.gif
* EXAMS CAN BE CONDUCTED 1st, THEN ONLY WORK EXPERIENCE COMES IN. rclxub.gif
* ONCE U HAVE DONE A EXAM U ARE REGISTERED UNDER THE UK CAA, BUT THIS RECORD WILL BE FLUSHED OFF
EVERY 5 YEARS, IN OTHER WORDS U MUST COMPLETE ALL THE MODULES WITHIN 5 YEARS TIME PERIOD FROM
THE DATE U STARTED THE 1st EXAM. sweat.gif
* DRESSCODING SHOULD BE IN FORMAL. cool2.gif
* WHEN U ARE GETTING WORK EXPERIENCE ITS NOT THE COLLEGE PRACTICAL BUT U MUST BE EMPLOYED BY A
AVIATION INDUSTRY.. PAY SYSTEM MUST RUN.... mark my word haa.... u must be employed, no matter what in order to get the 1st LAME
license.... icon_idea.gif

--so the bottom line here i would say ur wasting time on 3 years for ur dip in AA which ur gonna do and then only u go nna find for work experince which is another 3 years... think properlly ur wasting 6 years just for the 1 st license.... hmm.gif

i asked my fren who is now working with MAS about engineering degree holder (mechanical or aerospace/aeronautical) who wants to become maintenance engineer with MAS

he told me that they can join, but they will have to go study/train for 5 years before they can become one. Is this true ? If it's true, do u get paid while ur studying/training ?

as far as i'm corncern mate... it is very true despite any field u were in, you have to qualify the CAA requirements or EASA requirements but if ur an aviation degree holder, you should refer to section D cat. B1 and B2 licensing.

you don't get what a license holder gets when ur employed u will get allowance, your job will be more to probationary aircraft engineer... something like junior tech....

always remember fixing an aircraft doesn't need paperworks but u need experience....

so even having PHD in aviation industry without a license u can't go far .... u will just sit in office just like the aircrash investigators..... do u think their pay is quite high.....trust me their not even 1/3 the pay of fully licensed engineers pay....

i got my frend working in MAS he's like a mentor for me lar.... he has all the license, he's on the QA department, his age now almost reaching 50.... and u know what was his pay quite some time ago, i saw his payslip it stated there after deduction and blah blah blah....RM49,050.00 per month.

so the conclusion here is :

part 145 organization u require 3 years experienced.
part 147 organization u require 2 years experinced.
no jar organization u need 5 years in any aircraft field provided that u have to submit ur logbook.

all the above information can be true or might not be true. sorry if i had any mislanguage on pointing the sentences.
