I would love to go to classes but I thought it'll be a little humiliating to start as an adult while the kids are better than me.
Also, since acoustic violin are too loud for my family to bear, any alternatives for me to practice?
Thanks.
Starting violin at age 18?, Is it too late?

Hi, I'm a 16 years old teen and I plan on going to violin courses after my SPM.
I would love to go to classes but I thought it'll be a little humiliating to start as an adult while the kids are better than me. Also, since acoustic violin are too loud for my family to bear, any alternatives for me to practice? Thanks. |

I'm 31 and I'd like to learn the violin, and re-learn the piano.
I don't see anything wrong with learning an instrument. |

Except for 3 months of formal classical guitar training back in 1996, I learned to play guitar myself, and I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years.Added on December 26, 2012, 1:01 am Do you go to centers or you practice at home? |

Learn for a few months and see how it goes first. You might want to play other instruments later... |

I started learning violin last year, at the age of 26. Have been wanting to learn since 5, but coming from a small kampung with no violin teacher back then, my dream has been put aside, until now...
Always go for it, if you want to. |

I learned back violin when I was 26 in a music school filled with kids. I of course feel uncomfortable with the kids, but I told myself that it is the society's perception that we have to start doing things such as learning music at a young age. It's not our personal beliefs to begin with. So sometimes we must not let the society's viewpoint to affect our passions and dreams.

there's no harm in learning a musical instruments regardless of your age. because sometimes these babies of yours (guitars, violin @ etc), they tend to become a mean to express yourself. Take for example if i'm stressed out from work, i just plug in my guitar, my delay, played the same note @ chord for like 30 minutes without realizing the time.
These things, instruments can sometimes be quite magical. U don't have to be super expert and fast playing shredder to enjoy yourself with music. The notes that u picked @ played, it spells out your feelings & u'll find urself somewhat having a 'conversation' with ur instrument. Sounds dumb, but that's what happened to me lately |
