i think its quite hard to make a simple guidelines
its quite complicated unless there is someone very2 rajin to do that biggrin.gif

maybe you can make a template of faq question and when people answer it you update the faq now and then

first of all u hve to understand about the license first, there is three ways of obtaining it,
first take the license yourself which mean collecting 5 yrs of experience on aviation and finish all the easa cat b1/b2 module.
second, get the license via a part 147 easa approved training school
third is like nilai college, miat, metc etc2

requirement is basically age, ability to think and speak english biggrin.gif and experience
this is applicable for first and second method

for the miat nilai etc most of it only requires spm holders, i cant answer on miat and nilai, cause i dint know much about it

sallary is a lot(subjective) but not as much as pilot, fresh lae at mas should be getting arnd 3k+ without overtime,
and salary will go up if u have more type rating(type of a/c) and seniority

jobs responsibilities is make sure the aircraft doenst crash or you'll be in BIG trouble biggrin.gif
LAE job is to certify maintenance work, eg: a component is to be changed , u will have a group of mechanic working for u, you instruct them what to do, observe it, once it done u have to approve it, then if anything happen on that component or a/c crash due to that task u approve, they will look for u and one more time you'll be in BIG trouble
and another one is to carry out inspection (all this is the simplest way of explanation)

for me the career is quite interesting, once again, im telling this from what i can remember, not proven in black and white,im still a tame not a lame yet, correct me if im wrong

but i would suggest u to read the thread properly,

QUOTE
1) after reading those whole 70++ page, most or all LAME is graduated from MAS academy? and one graduated in USA ( not sure girl or guy, its look almost the same, doesnt matter). so my question is, is there any LAME graduated by working from bottom from other institution especially MIAT?

from one of the forumer, its not impossible to read all the pages if u are really interested in this career icon_rolleyes.gif

yep. this thread is nice but its info is all over the place. even the most fired up LAME-to-be would be challenged to read all 77 pages. we should cater for the lazy lucky one that pop in later too. start over with all the info, documents, faqs in 1st page. a proper LAME thread. too long to wait till 2500 posts.

I suggest open a new LAME thread in EDUCATION ESSENTIAL.

Because Jobs & Careers is more towards discussing about working. Most people here are interested to study - hence education. Got students interested in LAME but can't find it there including me...suddenly found it here.

ths thread started out as LAME prospect, the next level of career in aircraft maintenance. but thread evolve towards education, on how to become LAME right after finishing school.

Hiddentrap, u are right. How to become LAME should be in Education Essential. any volunteer? rclxms.gif

The volunteer should be knowledgable in this course. LAME student or real LAME is the best thumbup.gif

I agree. Time to start a new/proper thread strictly on LAE/LAME, job descriptions, responsibilities and related functions.

i agree too. but like azameel said, "i think its quite hard to make a simple guidelines. its quite complicated unless there is someone very2 rajin to do that"

so maybe it's going to end like this as well unless we have a proper forum site like airmech.co.uk or someone very2 rajin to update in the first page. hehehe...

anyway, here is my suggestion:
1. LAME job descriptions, responsibilities, salary and related functions.
2. DCA requirement and EASA requirement (since some college doing EASA)
3. list of college that provide training (including fees, years, advantages).
4. after finish study (including job descriptions, salary, years to gain license).

we also can add related information like how to add trade avionic to mechanical or vice versa and helicopter license to fixed wing license and vice versa.

thank you...

after the education part is seperated, this thread should go on and concentrate on the job itself.

jazzy, what else lie beyond after license? say im tired of working on aircraft, and have complete collection of snap-on tools biggrin.gif , what other position to go after?

what about QA or may be a dca surveyor? any qualifications to be aware of?

Lestat,
May apology for a late reply! tongue.gif

After working on the floor.. thare are opportunities in Planning, QA, Training if you still do not want to loose contact with the aircrafts..
Earn big bucks becoming Technical Representative/Customer Support.
Join DCA? ( Not for the salary, obviously) biggrin.gif This one needs goos aircraft coverage and QA experience preferably but not mandatory.

Go into the management. Managers and above if you're lucky!

Tools for own DIY thingy.. else.. sell to cover cost! tongue.gif

Jazzy, I'm new to this forum... agree with your comment. Just to highlight that holding a license gives you only a scope of engineering management functions, one need to equip self with additional knowledge and exposures such as in financial aspects, human resources, marketing, administration ... including teaching. Just as we start off in the maintenance world having teachers for the required skills, one now have to look for mentors and coaches as well as proper qualifications to be acceptable in the management side. For those who have just acquired their licenses, they must discipline themselves to read more books and publications as well as acquired "friends" for this objective. It may be tough but the resultant can be fruitful in the forthcoming years ... smile.gif javascript:emoticon(':)')
