Agent47 whoever you are, Malaysia in this contact the DCA, IS using the BCAR section L as the requirements for LWTR. Please don't (ever)use the word 'recognize'. It is THE standard.
EASA 66 if for the EU (European Union), get it? If you have EASA66 license, you can work in the EU. "License with type rating" now falls under Approved Organisation approval, please read the applicable AN issued by DCA. Classic aircrafts like the Fokker F27, B737-200s used to be typed rated by the DCA. Most general aviation aircrafts(small planes) are still is. As how much diploma holders are being paid as technician, I have no idea.. but since you're don't have the necessary experience, you may start as a 'Junior Technician' before being upgraded to full Technician. A such, the pay may not be much. This may lead to: Why bother getting the aviation diploma if you're going for your license, right? QUOTE(Agent 47 @ Dec 9 2007, 11:08 PM) I have some question here... For a diploma holders without license, how much are they paid to become a technician? How much working experience do I need before I can take the license examinations? I heard that Malaysia currently recognize BCAR section L license. What if i obtained EASA Part66 license, will I be recognize as a LAE? How do someone get a license with type rating? |

underzoom,
i hope you and the others are doing well in the class/OJT as the girls, although they are the 'minority'.. they however usually perform well and consistantly at the top of the class! I strongly agree if you have the interest and/passion in this field, it'll take you a long way. The (early)path that will be taken is no bed of roses, but it'll provide a very good basic foundation of the challenges that you'll be facing in the future. In apprenticeship style of training, you'll learn the trade the 'hard way'. Follow the 'master(s)' in everyway, emulate him as much as you can and this is how the profession give birth to the future masters if i may say so.. and if you're up to it, the rewards (in what ever form) is satisfying and I assure you, there's NO regrets or turning back. Welcome to the world of aviation- maintenance/engineering. We keep the aircarft safe/airworthy! I am also moved by iirnii's posting. Such a passion towards this trade iirnii, regardless of where you are for your training, the most important thing is our effort to become successful in the trade for the future of our aviation industry. Where you are is only the starting point of your career/future. To me, what matter most is where you will end and the contribution that you have done for the trade, profession, industry and the country. Keep us updated with your progress. It is nice to know news from the others within the same trade and industry. Keep this forum alive, boys n girls! Wishing you all the best! QUOTE(underzoom @ Dec 17 2007, 06:37 PM) |

iirnii, 1. All engineering recruitment go straight to the Engineering Department. You can address all applications to the Director of Engineering. Address as follows: Director, Engineering Department, LCC Terminal Jalan KLIA S3, Southern Support Zone Kuala Lumpur International Airport 64000 Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan 2. I could not comprehend your second query. As far as last batch is concerned, they were sent (out of house) for Module 6 and 7 without going through the Induction programme which is normal for all new staffs. That can be done at a later convenient date. 3. If you are one of the hundreds/thousands that applied competing for a limited place/vacancy, would it help if you know the trade, the industry, the company that you're applying the job from? OF COURSE! This shows your seriousness and above all your interests and PASSION. 4. Nope. Inside cable helps but if you're NOT qualified.. it is still a NO. Some correction. On average about 400++ applied everytime the advertisement is published. Each intake can vary from 20 to 30 candidates depending on what plans they have for that particular batch. I am curious, why are you giving up 'your game'? Selamat Hari Raya/Merry Christmas everyone. Happy New Year 2008 too! Be good. QUOTE(iirnii @ Dec 26 2007, 05:25 AM) [*] I am wondering if any of you would be kind enough to advise me of the mailing address for AirAsia Academy, where I can send my application in, and to whom should I put the FAO for. I have Googled it but it just gives me list of news articles et al. regarding AirAsia (and this Googling for the Academy's info was how I stumbled upon those online journals / blogs etc). [*] One mentioned that they were successful and was slotted for AK's February 2008 batch, but from what I've read they've already undergone some program modules. I'm curious (and my question here might be odd too...) why was the modules done earlier than the batch intake slot? [*] Does the general knowledge (i.e. the history of the company, how many aircrafts do they have, etc) questions really matters once it comes down to determine one successful candidate to another? [*] I've read quite a bit on commercial jetliner trade for an LAE, but due to my lack of research, nothing yet about any kind of internship or LAE training programme from Malaysian Royal Air Force (RMAF) or any other than our local commercial airlines. Is there any out there (aside from colleges, training centres, private licenses which one needs to pay from their pocket without sponsorship or job contract)? Well... just wondering, since there was news on the purchase of the VVIP aircraft last July, an RM200 million Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) 319, purchased by Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad, for use by our PM (and if I am not mistaken an engineer who used to work for AirAsia was one of the engineers surveying / overseeing the aircraft), maybe with other options I think I can broaden my possibilities from that 0.75% to more than 1% success rate, hehe. For someone who do not have "inside cables", yeah... I'm kind of desperate to up my game. [/list]My post is way, waa-ay too long now so I should take my leave for the time being. I thank you in advance for any kinds of feedbacks! It might be late but Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha to my fellow Muslims who read this, and Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing Day, Happy Hannukah and Kwanzaa too those who celebrate any of those days And.. have a happy countdown to 2008! Salam and cheers! |

iirnii,
everybody make mistakes.. nothing to be ashamed about.. How many are there in your group/batch? What are you(the group) doing right now? QUOTE(iirnii @ Dec 27 2007, 12:13 AM) I don't know whether to smile or feel darn stupid about my obviously wrong stats, haha.. that means I should have done more homework beforehand! I was seriously panicky (only of a bit) with the sheer number of applicants, but now it seems the sky is much more clearer for me, yay! Gimmick or not, it still sheds a positive light, in a different view.. more marketing means more exposure to the public, reaching out to more potential and capable people who will be interested in this field. Growth is not so bad, be it with one competing college or another, so long as its for the better future of this industry, eh? |

En. Salleh is now under inhouse development programme whereby he is being trained to get HIS license and hopefully, 2 years from now he and his batch (24 of them) can be the very first AirAsia trained/developed Licensed Engineers!
This is an information to those that are interested to join/apply for the Engineering Trainee Programme. The next advertisement will be out after the results of SPM is published. Once it is out, start to send in your applications! The address to send in your applications will be indicated. Good luck to all.. QUOTE(underzoom @ Jan 2 2008, 09:24 PM) en. salleh is no more in charge of the engineering trainees already - he has been given a promotion and now he's undergoing a crash course to obtain his EASA license. i this en. muzammil is the one to look for now. maybe jazzy sir would be able to let you know exactly whom to contact. goodie good luck & wishing all fellow aviation members a very very happy 2008! |

Let me reword that.
wwwah85, regardless of what you have, you'll be doing the training from scratch, just like the others. Yes, it will take 4-5 years of training! Nothing less. Like tkh mentioned, you better ask yourself, is this what you want to do for the rest of your life. Once you're in.. its hard to turn back and start over.. unless you can afford the time and money wasted. This post has been edited by jazzy939: Jan 7 2008, 02:26 AM |

Since this is a thread for licensed aircraft engineer and also in this industry, aircraft engineer means 'licensed engineer'
When wwwah85 mentioned about becoming an 'aircraft engineer' I definitely assumed it's licensed aircraft engineer. However if he wanted to be what we call in the industry, 'Technical Services Engineer' obviously IT IS NOT the same la. Does this make any sense to you, vader83? OTH I do not see the point of the industry being highly regulated, being the reason NOT be able to 'turn back' etc.. QUOTE(vader83 @ Jan 8 2008, 10:13 AM) hmm... Since the requirement to sit the DCA LWTR exam is work experience for 5 years, how come some MIAT students can sit for it at the end of their diploma? How & when & where did they get to fill up their work schedule? Please help me clear up my doubts |

It is always WITHOUT a type rating.
If you're doing the Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, I presumed it's a yes. QUOTE(Askray_UniKL-MIAT @ May 2 2008, 04:18 PM) |

Whoa.. good offer! I thought vendors are paid in the region of rm80-rm90 per hour with a minimum of 162 hrs per month. This is quite an improvement!

Do you actually know the difference between EASA license and DCA's LWTR?
QUOTE(hirari @ Oct 24 2008, 08:31 PM) Wait a minute. Are you saying that we can opt to sit for the EASA license instead of the DCA's? But still, we can convert the EASA license right? Added on October 27, 2008, 12:12 amkabadi, For any type: 1. Know the systems. For engines from the engine build up right up to the systems. 2. Current ADs, SBs, SI on the engine. Know the latest issue of these documents. 3. Current defects. 4. ALL aplicable paperwork.. their usage and how to fill them up. Eg. Engine run up sheets. Trim run.. prop balancing, how to read the charts.. etc.. Make sure you know all the answers to the QA's guidelines.. Good luck dude! BTW, who's the QAI?
