mmm I've given some consideration into switching my career from a Hardware engineer (semiconductor company) to the aviation line. I'm 25 (mechanical engineer), could anyone roughly guide me what are the options available for me? Yeah, know there's long thread over here, but it roughly emphasizes on the SPM/STPM entries, and not the current job switching options. Appreciate if someone could input some reliable statements

the thing when considreing something like this it may be a liltle passion needed because when considering aviation ..maintenance particulary ...experience are needed if not having any aviation background education ...so its kinda hard if u willing to work as a technician then u can ...because the law of aviation maintenance state taht we need to carter through dca ( aviation authority ).. even we got degree in engineering does not help ... smile.gif

may i suggest ...u can consider tecnical service personel ..though they dont work directly to aircraft they still handle aircrfat matter differently more on to documentation side of aviation but they also do some technical justification to ac but not so extensive as an lae smile.gif

I dunno about Malaysia.
As for SG, minimum requirement is Diploma (engineering) to be eligible for TLAE(Trainee Licensed Aircraft Engineer).

I'm going to sign 8 years contract with a sg aviation company soon.
8 years seems like too long for me. sweat.gif
anyone knows how long contract for MAS or SIA?
*
MAS is 10 years.. rclxub.gif

can take LWTR straight after MIAT?....what is the program?  it is not a TAME program kat miat kan?  so what about work/training schedules? how long MIAT students have to gain the job experience(training) when come to seat the LWTR exam?
*
nope, but the ordeal tha we had was to have SOJT..and because of that we had delayed our licensing exam up to 7 months..but thankfully we got enough time to study and for those who are on the fast track for oral exams, also thanked us coz we lengthen the gap so that all the candidates who had passed the written can go straight for oral, imean in 2 months after DCA given the written results..my fren is going next week, its like he just prepared yesterday(7 days before the oral exam)..damn fast now rclxms.gif

When applying for aeroplane license, it can only be category A or category C. So we know that they won't ask about airframe in the engines exams right? Then the rotorcraft license is category A&C. So with your experience, can you tell me a little bit about how the DCA evaluate the category A&C candidates?

basically when u apply for rotorcraft license, it's like applying both A&C at the same time. in fact it should be easier coz only need to answer extra 40 questions in MCQ. but, of coz, extra things to cover.. in oral exam, dca evaluate us just like others, just extra rotor specific questions. it shouldn't be a weird thing.. a friend of mine applied for A license, n while waiting for his oral, he submit for C license. he ended up being called for oral for both at the same time last week shocking.gif

kabadi, anytime when u drop by in kerteh.. whistling.gif terengganu is like paradise from air brows.gif
