Bezel? You mean ON the glass? Maybe your friend bought a below par casing which isn't quite machined to the exact measurements, leading sand to get into the gaps. That's probably the only fear I have that I don't use casings on mine.

But there maybe come another prob, when u take out the sticker, the paint may peeled out together with the sticker, since it is so sensitive...

Sticker cannot apply the to the black aluminium, u can apply sticker at side but not the "edge" where the paint wore off

I don't think the phone will discolor from sticker peeling. It's anodized, not painted.

I bought a hard casing made of plastic that is probably worth (material wise) no more than 0.50 but costs like 200 times more. So far, no problem.

It's very thin, just tight, and transparent (not 100%). I have taken my iPhone in and out a few times without any scratch.

I'm loving my transparent, thin casing.

in my case, i bought two iphone 32gb, white and black, and i received black first from telco at 14th dec, the white i received it from applestore MY.

from my experience, i've used the black, seems not satisfied coz i wanted white actually,so a deal of selling the black to my friend already made on 14th, when the white comes, then i hand the black.

so last monday i collected the white, and used it for a day, and guess what, already made 3 tiny scratch on the side, YES, be careful when using hard case, especially the one that snaps to the edges...eventhough it snaps smoothly!

i used the same casing, and black got 1 scratch, white got 3 scratches. black using that since 17th, and white, well, for 6 hours maybe. noticed the scratches after remove the casing coz when i was unpacked the white, we already inspected if got any defects.

in the end, i use the black , and sold the white juz hours ago. now im using soft jacket capdase.yeah, its different than foldcase, foldcase, the front screen is protected, but after that incident, im sticking to hybrid/rubber/etc material than the snaps one. be warned, guys. me and my friend also didnt expect the iphone5 quality to be like this. seriously.

if got extra layer protection on the sides, well maybe it is safe to use hard edge case that requires snapping. probably its my own fault, but as i said, i used the black since 14th, switching between two casings that requires snapping, only 1 scratch. the white, only a day, already have 3 scratches. i dont wanna post the casing here coz i bought it from LYN member.yeah, its cheaper than retail store.same genuine.i love it actually, until i open it up coz my fren wanna buy either white or black from me. we unbox the white set together, and he inspected if got defects. so i said i wanna use it for a night only to feel the new phone before i let go. i installed the snap casing afterwards. and the next day, i decided to get a soft jacket for the white, removed it, and put the soft jacket. at evening, met my fren, we were comparing the two phones, and he inspected again, there they were, 3 scratches on the white side. im a sloppy user abit, but the black should hav more scratches coz i constantly snap and snap.

Currently I am using a Saddleback Leather case for my iPhone 4. Very happy with it. This company has now come up with a similar case for the iPhone 5 and it costs only USD31.00. Check out the link below ............

I'm using SGP Linear Crystal for more than a week now. Yesterday, I opened it up to clean a bit and put the back sp on my i5. Checked for scratch. Found none at all. Happy. smile.gif

Just need to be careful when opening the bumper part.

if i'm not wrong, iphone 4 or 4S backside is made from glass, which will easily shattered upon drop. anyway, no big deal, nothing is perfect and you can;t expect they build something which will never break and resistant to all kind of force.

Been using Black Mercury soft case since day 1. Bought another Black Nillkin soft case for backup. Total cost RM30, including 2 pack of SP. Dropped my iphone 5 on the tar road once, drop from my bed to floor 4-5 times. I cannot find any scratches...^^

i using moshi hard case...
no problem on my phone...
however, last week i visit to lowyat plaza to look for casing,
i notice that those cheap casing has very sharp edge that could scratch your iphone...
i compare to my moshi of cos cost me RM130 for original, the edge is very smooth...
thus my advise....alway go for high quality if you using hard casing.

Bear in mind that any soft jacket will have such issue too as since materials of case are stretchable..

Dust and miscelleneuos will be entering your device from the holes of case and worst still as you don't clean it constantly.. Scratchess everywhere without intention

Been using Black Mercury soft case since day 1. Bought another Black Nillkin soft case for backup. Total cost RM30, including 2 pack of SP. Dropped my iphone 5 on the tar road once, drop from my bed to floor 4-5 times. I cannot find any scratches...^^

Until sumone invented a vacuum sealed casing, u will still need to remove the casing every now n then to clean it from dust and other tiny particles that can trap in between the cover n the phone, if not those trapped dusts will eventually scratch ur phone im afraid..

Where do you go to " re-liquefy ", how much does it cost each time and how long is the process each time?

The rule of thumb, go for super tight one, loose one tend to collect dust and scratch your iphone(I can never forget swircheasy nude that scratched my ipad, same concept apply here). Before install, please blow away all the dust, also do not uninstall and install all the time to look at the beauty of the back, you never know a small sand creep in without your notice.

Buy the transparent sticker. Trim it to the width of the shinny bezel. Paste it over. Ensure all surface are covered. Then put it into your soft case. Hassle free.

the built quality for iphone 5 is superb. it is not meant for you to use casing on it. it is for you to carry it nakedly to feel the aluminium texture and the slimness of the phone. putting casing on defy the purpose of Apple in reducing the size and weight. if you use it with care, there's no need of any casing for protection. i use mine naked, even if it get scratches, well, is there a phone out there that won't scratch after usage? don get over reacted.
just my 2 cents.

probably some ppl here like me will try our best to keep the phone unscratched or anything. this is important when i wanna sell my i5 afterwards, the secondhand value of well taken care phone. it is more convincing to sell a lean and unscratched phone than the scratched one. buyers do pay attention to this...and it affects their decision to buy or not.... smile.gif
