say you spend 10k a month on the CC, by placing that amount in MSA for 20 days it will only earn you around RM12.
if you can afford to spend 10k a month, what is RM12 to be honest?

And with up to 30 interest free and additional 20 days after statement date, your RM10K spending to earn the RM12 deposited into a interest bearing account may ballooned up to RM25 or more and take care of your concern of GST RM25 for each supp which works out to be about RM2 per month/card  laugh.gif

RM12 is enough to get me a FREE pack Marlboro Lights and a FREE lighter too biggrin.gif

Exactly!

Speaking of this M2U Savers Account, this is easily the best savings account in town with no restriction on how many withdrawal you can make per month. We actually have a dedicated Maybank2u Saver Account thread that was created last year.

Maybank was heavily promoting this account on Maybank2u just a couple of months ago and I opened mine right after it was launched. Been using this account for more than a year now and I am happy to see all the interest credited into my account every month thumbup.gif

Yes. I'm still thinking whether I should close my current M2U Saver account since it's been more than 6 months from the time I open it and open saver-i account. After 1 months I open saver then came out the saver-i account package. Not sure if it is allowed or not. rclxub.gif

Try and let us know.

You should try to open the Saver-i, see it allow for both or not?

If not, then you can just close the Saver and apply Saver-i, since you have pass the rules & regulation.

Reason of choosing Saver-i is that due to less than 2k but still want to earn the interest? or any better benefit?

Only 0.4% for balance below 2k

CIMB Air Asia gives 1.2% for balance below 2k

Well, I can maintain 1 account for more than RM2k for half month which I think the interest will be higher than CIMB. I don't want to make IBG to CIMB just to earn that 1.2%. sweat.gif

This is case to case depend on ppl.

My pay goes into CIMB, so that is why I use CIMB AA. As u mention IBG charge is RM2. Also the CIMB AA is only better then M2U Savers-i when it comes to below 2k. Above that, M2U is better at 2.1% vs 1.2% for CIMB AA

Take it as a discipline, to make full payment every month and you don't need to know the 8.88% whatever interest for minimum payment/advance cash/whatever.

If you can't discipline yourself, then better to go with debit card. Don't apply CC. Serious, you'll fall into debt trap and we don't want you to be.

Use CC for EPP / 0% installment is fine, but full installment payment every month is a must (discipline).

Over here, we try to advocate everyone to use CC positively and EARN from bank (even after paying RM50 GST).
We don't encourage people to be in debt and not able to pay, or just minimum / partial payment.

Try read first page , the first few postings, you might get some idea there.

I see I see. I have read genX blog but the maybank officer told me that the 8.88% is charged regardless of paying before or after due date. He told me it's 8.88 divided by 12 months. He also said it would rugi me if swipe for amounts less than rm50. That's why I'm confused now.
Maybe you can share an example, say I spend 1k on Amex, how much would I need to pay back before the due date? What would the statement look like?
Sorry for noob questions. It's my first time applying. Hehe.

You just have to remember that there won't be any interest charge if you make a full payment before the due date.

Let's say you swipe RM1k on 8 Dec.
Your statement date is 28 Dec and therefore, your due date will be on 18 Jan.
If you make full payment of RM1k before 18 Jan then there won't be any charges.
If you make RM50 to the CC, then there will be 8.88% charges, therefore around RM7.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you make full payment of RM1k before 18 Jan then there won't be any charges. (we advocate everyone to make full payment of 1k. Not minimum RM50 or partial payment like RM800/500/200/etc)
If you make RM50 to the CC, then there will be 8.88% charges, therefore around RM7. (this is a no-no  shakehead.gif Must be discipline and have enough to pay, otherwise don't swipe that 1k in the first place)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct, but I add-on my commets to above example... Z610ix6 take note of the date for the example.

After the red add-on above... if the 1k purchase can convert to 0% 12 months, means every month MUST pay (1000/12) = RM83.34. Nothing less. EVERY month, no skip. Otherwise, don't EPP / installment / Balance transfer.
icon_rolleyes.gif

Some will think, I'm not as rich as you guys lah, what lah. Then it is simple, use debit card.

Er. Platinum needs 60k p.a. So even 40k has no effect. I have more than 50k p.a. still have no chance to get Platinum. Anyway I didn't try applying before. The extra perks of Platinum don't attract me yet.

If you can maintain above 2k, it makes no different right?
And If below 2k is 0.4%, normal saving is 0.3%, sounds not much different. Just I have no idea on the normal saving interest calculation.
