Name: Chin T.S.
Summits conquered: Bkt Melawati East and West
Next target: Nuang
frequent workout place: Jogging

Added on June 1, 2008, 7:44 pmI hiked up melawati hills few times (West 4 times, East 1 time). Loved the place, it is unique, dun find it boring even been up there few times. would like to go to other mountain like nuang, ledang or irau in the near future, but no company to go with at the moment.
Any one has any plan for hiking trip to these places or any other mountains? do let me know as i would like to join
If not, i will continue to hike up melawati hill during weekend (normally on sunday), any1 would like to join just let me know few days in advance

Can any1 show me how to get to Wangsa cheras?

QUOTE(felixcfk @ Jun 13 2008, 01:16 PM)
You are right, another name for Wangsa Cheras is Ah Pak San. More difficult compare with Melawati West.

Some description abt the place:

"From downtown Kuala Lumpur, travel south to Cheras. After Phoenix Plaza, heading to the direction of Kajang. After paying the toll, you will notice a signboard stated Air Terjun Sg. Gabai on your left hand side. Turn left, then drive along and you will reach a junction with traffic light. You will notice a police station on your right hand side. Turn left and follow the direction of Pekan Batu.18. Go staright and after 20-30 minutes, you will reach Pangsun which is very near the entrance. Ask someone there and they will show you the way to the entrance.

You have to walk around 60 to 90 minutes to the foothill depending on your fitness from the car park. The foothill is called Kem Lolo where you could see Orang Asli there. The watergate/floodgate could be spotted too. Then, it's all the way up until you reach a place called Dataran Pacat where campers stay. The trail becomes tougher after this.

The view from the peak is not so great compare to other mountains but the satisfaction is great. It is possible to trek up and down within 10 hours from the car park if you are fit and the path condition is dry."

From: http://www.peakware.com/peaks.html?pk=2091

Will post some updates abt the place from time to time

I have never been to nuang, but from the info posted by other climbers, dun think got rock climbing, more like jungle trekking.

i am ok to start the climb at 7am, so we will meet early let say 6am? anyway, let see who else is going then we'll decide a meeting point and time by friday

abt stamina, i think not to worry 2 much as we will trek slowly, shud have enuv time to cover the route if we start the climb at 7am

I have never been to Nuang, but from what I gather the trail shud be obvious, so very rare chance of getting lost. Some even say that the trek is easier than melawati hill...dunno how true is it.

Can any1 advise me how to get to phoenix plaza. i'm coming from MRR2, which exit shud i take?

QUOTE(popcorn513 @ Jun 29 2008, 10:45 PM)
Hi guys, sorry that my friend is too weak for this hiking and dragging our trip.....
Sorry about that that we failed our mission and you all have to wait so long.....
The picture please send to popcorn513@hotmail.com
*
I guess every1 is exhausted after the trip…drain a lot out of us, physically and mentally…phew

Overall I think it is a very enjoyable experience even though we din make it to the top, and tks enjoylife for guiding us there

Popcorn, I think we din make it up to the top due to the rain rather than ur friend whom u think dragging us back. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend to go up in raining condition 2 as the terrain is slippery…by the time the rain stop it is 2 late to go up already. But I think we do have a “great” time coming down hill with on the slippery terrain (those who r there know what I meant)

Well, next time hope we got better luck with the weather, and after this trip I also realize that I need to get a pair of proper hiking shoes.

Also, popcorn pls tell ur friend not to give up hiking, there is no such thing as “weak” hiker, only hiker who is lack of confidence. I think when she was injured early into the trek, she was demoralized, somemore seeing u guys going so fast and so far ahead…makes her think that she is not into this type of activity. So popcorn, i think u shud advise her to be more confidence with herself.

Will post here further for next trip, and any1 who plan for any hiking trip pls post here 2…

Hey, no problem about that. It's not like we must climb to the peak. It's a good experience overall. At least we know how it is like. But i have to admit, it's tougher than i thought. The never ending trail is nothing much....just a boring walk. But after that it's interesting and challenging especially after Kem Lolo. Anyway, nice meeting all of you.

Count me in for the 2nd trip up if i'm free on that date. Next time, our target is the peak.  smile.gif

And actually i pity tschin...ran all the way down juz to get the camera and phone. Actually he don't have to do it. You guys can take your time. We are sleeping at the foothill anyway  tongue.gif

oh yeah,i also wan the pics taken especially the group photo. whose camera was that? (send to eugene_mufc@hotmail.com)

Nice meeting u 2, eksk86.

I also think the Never Ending Trail is kinda boring, have been thinking of how to cut it short, so when I got the opportunity to get down faster, I just grabbed it. At least now I know the trail is abt 5 – 6km long and it is possible to complete the Never Ending Trail (on the way back) in 30 minutes (I took abt 28 minutes). Next time shall try what is the timing on the way in.

Ohya, tks for reminding me abt the photo, when the photo is ready pls post it somewhere or email it to: chintecksin@hotmail.com

My preference for the Nuang trip is also on Saturday, but 2 bad need to answer work related calls despite not working on Saturday. So I put it on Sunday.

After nuang trip it will be tiring, but I dunno whether doctor will issue MC for tiredness or not. Any1 happen to know doctor who can issue this type of MC pls recommend, hehe
