i just thinking how to save more cost without getting the bundle together outdated DVD format. Which is for me is a dust collector. biggrin.gif  I still don't have kid. So can"t imagine your situation. hmm.gif

It will happen to you 1 days when you tired with keep chasnging format. The next format 4k is coming. They is no end.

There is 2 problem for me to keep the collection. The player is no more selling and no where you can repair. For example the LDs. So what you going to do with the disc collection? For kids toy? tongue.gif  2nd problem is the wife complain. You spend so much collection and you abandon it. Than collect another format. When year end cleaning, nagging coming when she saw your collection collecting dust. sweat.gif  And it is not just my wife. My mother now start nagging too now. Ask me what I should do with my late father LP album. Man, why women don't understand. rclxub.gif

Hi bro ozak, nice meeting an old friend here (we last met in the LYN photography/video forum). So I see you have finally joined the BD family. Ya, I can understand your problems since I have also gone through the videotape ->LD->VCD->DVD->BD evolution. (I never owned any LD since it was too expensive so I just rented from the many LD rental shops during those day when LD was the rage.) A few years back, I threw out my hugh collection of mouldy VHS tapes and about to do the same with my dusty collection of VCD. I'll keep my DVDs though since they're not too bad with the upscaling on the BD player.
There is a solution to your second problem, albeit an expensive one. Just get you wife started on her shoe and handbag collection (if she has not already started) and nag about HER collection when she nags about yours! She'll surely stop nagging. brows.gif
A few pointers on ordering from Amazon based on my limited experience.
When comparing prices between Amazon UK and US, remember that the UK price is with 20% VAT so to get the selling price, divide the published price by 1.2 before using the conversion rate. Many UK boxset are cheaper than equivalent US boxset (especially the BBC documentaries) though packing may differ.
Those DVDs that come with the BDs may be region locked so not playable on most local BD players (unless it is a Sony BD player which surprisingly can play DVDs of all regions.) so pretty useless here.
BDs from Amazon Canada are usually more expensive than US but their shipping and handling is cheaper. Better still, they use DHL even for standard shipping so will arive within 3 days normally against 2 weeks to 4 weeks by Amazon US depending on the shipper used. Amazon UK items will usually arrive within 7 days by Royal Mail. (God Bless the Queen). Regular buyers from Amazon CA may want to confirm the part on using DHL since I only ordered twice from them and both came by DHL for standard shipping.
Enough said, just enjoy your BDs and your new hobby! thumbup.gif

Yep.  Need to try my luck.  Plan to buy 1 unit of BDP-103 when I visit Singapore on early June this year.  tongue.gif

Maybe I will remove the box cover and put the player in my luggage and claim it is used unit.  tongue.gif

Last year I brought back a BD player from Perth in its original packing. I just put it in my check-in luggage and walked out the green lane as normal. Perhaps if you are the only one carring a big luggage (if it is big) coming back from Singapore may be suspicious. Better if you can exit later together with international arriving passengers where people have more luggage so you can just blend in, if necessary. From my experience, customs seldom ask to inspect your luggage unless you are acting nervous. sweat.gif I believe you have watched enough BD movies to know how to act innocent. whistling.gif Anyway, good luck!

Rather quiet here these days.

Just found this Deal of the Day at Amazon.com

The complete original Star Trek series (3 seasons) for only USD88.99 which is a must for Star Trek fans. There are 20 BD's and with standard postage, it is less than RM15 per disc.

Hurry up, "So beam me up, Scotty!"

I was at the KLAV 2013 show yesterday at JW Marriot. Speedy is selling ori BD at 2 for RM100. Selected titles but quite a range so you may be able to find some that you like. Popular titels are also discounted, cannot remember it's 20 or 30% off. Probably worth a visit for those looking for their first ori BD. rclxms.gif Show is on until Sunday.

Has anybody here actually used one of those China-made region-free, Cinavia-free and everything-can BD players? Are they any good? Please share your experience and views.

Great, hope to see your review soon. Yours is the high-end one? which model? I am thinking more of the cheaper (less than RM500) ones for the masses and poor pensioners!

If everything else being equal, I would definitely pick the one with the HDMI Input since you can then connect other HD devices (like your PS3/PS4) via HDMI to the HTiB. But I am not too sure if the E4100 has the HDMI input since the last time when I was seaching for my HTiB, this model, like many others at this price range has only HDMI output only. I could be wrong though but good to check on the actual unit before you buy just to make sure. Good luck!

I was at Popular BookFest at KLCC Convention Centre just now. Speedy has a stall offering BD at RM100 for 2, not very wide seletion but has recent popular titles like Brave, Hugo, etc. Worth buying for those who cannot tahan the anxiety of waiting for your BD to arrive after ordering from Amazon. This is at the Leisure Pavilion at Level 3 amidst all the music CDs and DVDs.

Was browsing in Speedy and found Eric Clapton's Crossroad Guitar Festival 2013 selling at RM60.90 and since I did not want to make a blind buy, I went home to check the review. To my surprise, Amazon was selling at USD20+ so it is cheaper at Speedy even without the shipping charges. For guitar music lovers, this is a very good buy since there are two BD with almost 5 hours of contents. This is an import and not a locally produced version. AQ is first rate and the PQ is great overall but sometimes the camera goes focus hunting. It is not very often that Speedy is selling cheaper than Amazon so go grab one if you like guitar music! rclxms.gif (Just checked, Amazon has dropped price to USD19.51 so Speedy is still cheaper and no anxious waiting time for your parcel to arrive. sweat.gif )

That is certainly a surprised... as I have not been to $peedy in a long loooong time! What else music blu-rays are they selling around that price?  hmm.gif

Did not notice other (music) "bargains" like this one, usually Amazon is cheaper so this could be a pricing mistake. Others may want to report if they find any. Anyway, a Happy New You to one and all, and may all your days be Blu! rclxm9.gif

I havent been on this thread for quiet some n need 2 know any good blu ray concert disc  ( english version ). tq

Don't know the type of concert you like. Here are 3 that I enjoyed, in order of age. The age of the BD, that is!

1. Concert For George - tribute to George Harrison from his friends. Great Beatles music and some Indian/sitar music by Ravi Shankar's daughter.

2. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert 25th Anniversary. Great R&R stuff plus classic Simon & Garfunkel hits which, to me, are the best of the lot.

3. Eric Clapton's Crossroad Guitar Festival 2013. Obviously all guitar based. Well worth the money for RM60.90 at local Speedy for 2 imported discs.

All with great AQ and PQ (by concert standard). Enjoy!
