Bad luck.. l guess .. for them to notice de box/pckg n then check..
U knw.. l kena once, a pckg even below RM500 [ard 400 only] which was held back n asked me to collect at Northern Custom/Postal distribution center - presumably to pay tax - but when l collected, even de customs guy in charge was surprised tat tis particular pckg was asked to be collected there - he said he has no idea why it was held back.. in the end , he released without any payment..
I guess its just de 'inspection' staff which was 'playing de fool' but watever it is - its typical of our 'local boys' - damn unprofessional..

Up north here .. anythng Courier is like 1 in 2 pckgs will be held up for wanting a KDN cert [at least for digital media = dvd/bd] not [ever] one for regular pos malaysia n I hv had numerous [too many to count]
I, personally avoid priority/express shipping like de plague n lll change 'shipping method' online manually - if l happen to catch it in time.. tis is when AMZ upgrds shipping method.. dont hv to say tat l wont pay for de 'faster' method..

On de below 500/- pckg being held, only tat one was ever held [ total... tis is again - more numerous to count ] ..
On luck - ya .. I hv been lucky too, several above 500/- [usually due to de sudden drop in our RM .. ] hv passed un-checked n so un-taxed.. All tis is regular pos malaysia..

Like we say here.. Luck plays a part too..

Good point is tat , it came quick - shpd out 07/04 -> arvd 16/04 = similarly quick as AMZ.UK..

So, it does seem tat de RM500 exemption is still ard..

So far.. in all my packages received since 01/04 tak kena GST la..
Up to RM400 plus value - so l assume de 500/- exemption value still stands..

There is an entry for it entering the country for I parcel Standard shipping la.. but aftr tat - Nada liao ; even until Expediated Shpng [ 1-step up at AMZ.COM ] its still de same .. Only if you use Priority will step by step via Courier co..

Id refrain from 'claiming' just because its a 'little late' - l mean eventually if it gets 'too much' and AMZ finds it unprofitable - they might raise charges or worse, stop shipping here to Malaysia altogether [ it has happened before to other online cos..]

it all boils down to 'payment' - if you have 'paid' for it then its not piracy but if not then its illegal..

About making copies to keep in a harddisk - read the fine print in the dvd/bd box/casing - you cannot do that without 'permission' ..

So, again .. it depends who you ask..

I hope u knw d new shpng chrgs of AMZ.CA stnd shpng..

I just checked their shpg charges again and it states CAD10 [per ordr] and CAD5.50 [per item] so unless you buy really a lot - I dont see de shpng chrg to be anywhere near CAD6 - I am stating tis cos l was chrgd CAD10 for a long standing ol title ordr which when l first ordrd was for de chrges were CAD 5 + CAD 2.5 but since they hadnt stock then, my order was held open - l tink for a year and then when it finally shipped - it was with the new shpng chrges...
