juz bought from titiwangsa promo at tasik titiwangsa yesterday...
for simple task it's pretty smooth but it couldn't handle great graphics game due to it's quite weak gpu.. i've tried dead trigger it's smooth on scrolling part but the graphics rendering is not as good.. but the screen is really good thanks to it's ips display and 8MP android phone for RM799 that's hard to find and takes decent shots for me.. if you're not much into games i would recommend it to you or if you're into games go for p1 or d1 quad since d1 quad is cheap and quite a benchmark champion and better performance than tegra 3 at least on the paper |

sometimes upgrading to newer os doesnt mean it will perform better. i rather wait alittle while after they fix the bugs of the new os before updating unless my current os has a serious problem.

Agree with you but do Huawei has a good record when it comes to firmware update? I hope they are not like LG. |

At least in term of brand, Huawei has a lot better image than those two local re-brand phone. |

Im not so worry abt the updates later. I have been comparing these 2 hp :CSL Mi 501 & Huawei Ascend G600. Both have almost the same specs except the display size and type and cam res. G600 has higher RAM which is 768MB vs 512 in mercury. G 600 has 4.5" IPS QHD vs 5" normal LCD. Off coz Huawei is much stronger in their product support and development. So i might choose G600 at the end... |

Since G600 screen resolution is higher than Mi501, I hazard a guess that the fps is a bit lower than the Mi501. Meaning Mi501 should be a whisker ahead. |

Trying to run some benchmark now. Antutu score : 6651.. |

It could handle most of the market games but don't expect it perform like quad core hp la.Added on December 26, 2012, 3:02 pm I read somewhere that this phone native browser doesn't support pinch-to-zoom option??Next the sound is quite echo??It is true?? The native browser can do pinch to zoom without problem, i also read abt this comment but that was probably the 1st generation test unit. The sound of the ringer speaker is really loud and clear! The speaker of the phone itself is also very clear. No a problem for me at all. Of coz, no echo sound la. Battery life: unplug the power charger at 2pm, now already 3 hrs with wifi on all the time, 3g for 30min, games for few minutes and numerous times of undates/ downloads/ installations of apps, now left 74%. When i was playing dead trigger for 15min, the hp got really hot at the back. There was a significant drop in batt for only a while of gaming. From the observation so far, the battery life perhaps can last for 1 day without any heavy gaming. so it can be considered above average but not excellent maybe due to the qHD and dual core. Sadly, malaysian version of G600 do not have dual sim support unlike the china version one. The most concerning part for me is the screen lag. When u flip the pages, it feels like u are using the Stealth 2. Although the hp has 4GB internal memory, u actually only left with 1 GB of usage. So u need to get a SD card for expansion. Build quality is very good. If u open the back cover, those small clips are well build no flashing at all. It snap and fit perfectly with no free play. I haven't really test the camera, will review later. This post has been edited by wkchia: Dec 26 2012, 05:19 PM |

There are 4 sensors in this phone, 1) 3 axis accelerometer - for G sensor 2) 3 axis magnetic feild sensor - For conpass 3) Orientation sensor- is this the gyrosensor? 4) light sensor |

I'm not so sure the name is correct or not? QUOTE(wkchia @ Dec 25 2012, 10:44 PM) How about the smoothness of the G600 screen compare to mi 501? Can the G600 handle the games like dead trigger smoothly? i have tested both devices on dead trigger and both have some graphic problems i guess due to the weak gpu of this chipset..both are smooth but mi501 is slightly smoother than G600 i think Added on December 27, 2012, 4:16 pm QUOTE(wkchia @ Dec 26 2012, 04:55 PM) I bought it for RM680, from http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1935450&hl= when you're playing dead trigger do you have that graphic problem like multiple shadowy effect when scrolling??free delivery to my office. Added on December 26, 2012, 5:19 pm It could handle most of the market games but don't expect it perform like quad core hp la. This post has been edited by HarshRalf: Dec 27 2012, 04:16 PM |

Hi i just got this phone yesterday and wonder if TS will do official club for g600.
Got it as dont need high end phone as playing game i prefer use laptop. Only use it for apps and browsing net. Overall can say its very good indeed. One comment. Use an empty memory card. As it format all my old data in my card. User Gui. Standard stock android and not bad i guess. the screen is good and manage to play my mkv with no lagging. But need to install codec and mkv player though. |

Today first review of full test on my g600.
Overall very good. But weirdly it auto restart 2 x today. Maybe i press the start button too long ^^ 2nd problem encounter is battery drain too fast ^^ . Maybe i use data + bluetooth to car and gps for waze. For the apps. All run with no problem. Only thing is charge 3 x today ^^ maybe too heavy usage. Benchmark - Open same website with my other SGS Note 2 on maxis. Surpise indeed. try 5x in different place and the connection for G600 is faster than Note 2. Not to mention it load faster as well. And colour much better at least for me. Maybe i dont like the yellowish colour on Note 2 ^ ^ Another comment is picture wise is ok.. Not good but then for sharing its good enough ady. As use bridge camera to snap picture will smoke ip5 and sgs 3 anytime ^^ F2.8 at 600mm ^^ |

Was planning to buy this phone, until i saw in a post from Huawei New Zealand team in FB that said, "until this point, there's no plan to upgrade this phone to 4.1/4.2".
However, do hope Huawei will change their mind soon, as this phone has just launched, and i do think many people are looking forward for JB update for this phone. |

But it might not fix your problem because other apps can still modify it (at runtime) after Ascend Tools have modified it. |

I have found the problem of the home/back/setting led lighting problem. Its the apps call "power Toggles" that gives the problem. After updated the app, now no problem.

But other than the camera which is not so nice which i dont bother as only use it to snap car park picture as i use a bridge camera instead. Overall its pretty good to date. QUOTE(wkchia @ Jan 4 2013, 10:50 AM) Im using android keyboard. yes the dictionary will suggest some words before u finish the whole word. I think they make it difficult to mute the camera because they want to protect people's privacy. If you are using the default camera, there is no way to mute the camera. I find the default camera has insufficient function. No zoom fuction, no sound offno hd recording. Quite a disappointment... Nevertheless to mute the camera, I saw in the China forums, there is a hacker method to do it. But you need to root your device. Basically these people go to the system folders and wipe out or rename the required sound files. |

Agree? and i think u are racist toward people with small resolution phone and watch HD on it.......... its people liking to watch HD in small resolution phone la..... please respect people....... very rude la u and why need keep attack me? For Hong Kong series, it is not worth downloading 720p and higher.A 480p movie is 200-250 MB. A 720p movie will be 1 G. A 1080p HK movie will be perhaps 5 G or more. I watch 480p HK series on my full 40" HD TV, I find it good enough. Perhaps my expectable is low. Size is not the issue per se, it is download time which is the issue. |

Im not sure abt the warrany claim, but the battery life is above average. I have tested on idle with wifi on it only consumed 1-2% the whole nite. With some games, 3G , wifi online, it can last the whole day. This post has been edited by wkchia: Jan 6 2013, 09:16 PM |

wow...wow...really lots of positive review about this phone..though internal memory is 4gb but after operation of the os left oni 1gb.i personally found out that it is not enough for usage in long run...
yes, many of us thought can put or use external memory but there will be lots of files taken up the internal memory. for instance, when u log in fb, there will be certain mb taken up... all the comunication apps will behave like these. i think the oni solution to this is to root it |

Maybe last time the android software has limitation. Now you can choose whether you want to store the data in internal RAM or you want to store in SD card. After you choose SD has the default, then rightfully the data will be stored in SD instead of internal storage. |

Huawei china released the latest firmware on Jan 7/8 2013 and here is the weblink :-http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCen...0&type=software Please note that China firmware is not really the same as International firmware. If you want to use China firmware, you will need to modify a few things on it. This post has been edited by puchongite: Jan 8 2013, 11:18 PM |

There is a widget called Power Toggles, available in play store. I use that.I think it can put toggles in your home screen. But I don't do that, I only use the notification feature, ie I put a series of toggles in the notification area. To access the notification area, strip your finger from top to down. I put a few toggles which I commonly use there. It's quite convenient. This post has been edited by puchongite: Jan 9 2013, 10:55 AM |

QUOTE(wkchia @ Jan 10 2013, 12:01 PM) Most of the default toggles are useless as there are already present in the original ROM's notification area.Go to application menu, click 'Power Toggles' and look for 'Notification Widget' - configure. Click configure, and a sample of the toggle bar is displayed and you click on the toggle which you want to remove. The 'Power Toggles' allows a maximum of 8 toggles and does not allow adding another row of toggles. It does not make sense to put too many toggles in one row. They should allow adding another row to it. What a pity ! |

QUOTE(wkchia @ Jan 10 2013, 12:04 PM) I am not aware that 'Power toggles' can configure that. Haven't tried that.I use Genokolar Ascend tools ( I posted it in one of the Huawei threads ). But you need to root your device. This post has been edited by puchongite: Jan 10 2013, 12:15 PM |

QUOTE(liam_emmet @ Jan 12 2013, 11:12 PM) There are two camera sound produce by the factory camera software. One is the focus sound. Another is when taking picture. The 格诺Ascend工具can shut off the sound when taking picture, but the device need to be rooted. ( Actually it is just the GUI doing the work only ). The ascend tool also cannot shut off the focusing sound. To shut off that sound, need to install a modified version of HwCamera.apk. Need to root also to do that. The simpler way to have all this fixed is to install some other camera software. There are a few free silent camera apk in 'play store'. No root is required. But it seems they can only capture picture at lower resolution. |

QUOTE(caesarx @ Jan 13 2013, 07:15 PM) But you haven't specifically answered my question. Do you mean you can use Camera ICS+ to take 8MP high res picture without rooting and still in silent mode in focusing and taking picture ? There are plenty of camera software around which can take picture silently, but they are doing it at low res. This post has been edited by puchongite: Jan 13 2013, 07:19 PM |

I'm considering to get a cheap secondary phone. Now thinking should I get G600 or Nokia Lumia 620 for a change of taste. Of course I know this is Android/Huawei G600 thread so Windows Phone probably won't survive here but currently my main phone is Xperia S so does it feel weird that getting a bigger screen phone (4.5" qHD vs 4.3" 720p) as secondary?

QUOTE(puchongite @ Jan 14 2013, 11:22 AM) Just curious. How do people use the secondary phone ? Under what circumstances the secondary phone will be used ? Everyone has their own definition on this. I have two phone numbers, one mainly for my personal use with internet surfing, gaming, watching movies/videos, listening to music, taking photos/videos, etc. The secondary number is for boss/colleagues/business contact purpose, push working email, some casual online info searching, taking photos/videos for work purpose i.e. two phones with slightly different purpose so I don't mix up and accidentally show things that is unrelated to the other party. Therefore I don't really need a high end model for work but something inexpensive but acceptable in performance.Do you keep to SIM or what ? Hey Guys
im new here and ive found this thread to be really helpful. I am really interested in getting this phone it would be pretty much my first smartphone and to me the specs sound good for a $265 phone which is what i want to spend. I just have a few questions that i havent been able to find answers for. my first question is out of the 4gb memory how much is already taken up. And my second question is can i moved the downloaded apps to the sd card so if i get the phone and a 32gb sd card can i put apps on there as my local store that sells the phone hasnt been able to answer either of these questions. And does the phone lag when playing games and that. Thanks for any help |

Thanks for any help I don't know if can move the downloaded apps but what I do know is you could set default storage location to SD Card if you want, you can do that through settings->storage.. And if the games aren't that much graphic demanding I think it's okay like casual games such as Fruit Ninja and Shine Runner both run at a pretty acceptable frame rates..but when playing games you will notice that the battery will drain a lot faster.. |

Hi
is this phone that good? Quite worry about the quality... I had bad impression on China phone because i used a clone N9 b4... that is a true nightmare, the battery show 100% but when someone calling then it just ring a while (even i havent pick up the phone) then shut down terus. Wow. change the battery also same. the touch screen so damn worse. And my dad's China phone so noisy the music performance so bad. but how about this phone? Really interesting about it and need yours review. Thanks lot This post has been edited by lhwang: Mar 10 2013, 09:41 PM |

There are big differences between China Ori hp and clone hp. The established ori brands like Huawei, Lenovo, etc are original hp manufacturer where they have proper R&D, and support.
Those clone ones are from backyard factory using recon parts or low grade parts to assemble the hp. So the quality is very bad. That is why you should never buy a clone hp from china. Huawei is now the 3rd largest hp manufacturer, the quality is proven otherwise it wont stand where it is now. |

QUOTE(wkchia @ Dec 25 2012, 10:01 PM) Huawei is a giant in IT/telecommunication industry. Their mobile phone division is also very established. Im not so worry abt the updates later. G600 doesnt have gyroscope function.. it can affect or not?..I have been comparing these 2 hp :CSL Mi 501 & Huawei Ascend G600. Both have almost the same specs except the display size and type and cam res. G600 has higher RAM which is 768MB vs 512 in mercury. G 600 has 4.5" IPS QHD vs 5" normal LCD. Off coz Huawei is much stronger in their product support and development. So i might choose G600 at the end... |

latest issue of Mobile World said that the G600 does not have a GPU, thats why 720p mkv clips shutter
anyway, to know what GPU u has, can try to download Antutu Benchmark and post the system info here |

Quite worry about the quality... Really interesting about it and need yours review. Thanks lot the battery consumption is very low. full bar battery can last for a day, with 3g on, however the brightness most of the time i set it to lowest(my eye feel pain seeing bright contrast). and there are some problem too actually.i encounter download failure from google store many times and i need to try to download the apps again and again only eventually can download it..but hey, it is still working isnt it? other than that i do not encounter any other problem. sometimes call come in cant answer, need to click the turn off power and click it back oni can answer. to me still ok because not so frequent. |

will came back when I had to use it ... the stock camera ... its an IcS bug which I did not notice on the 32 GB Iconia ~ it actually depends on the picture u have on board. So my iconia was eating like 4GB when I found the prob. Now I am using camera 360 with Quick Pic |
