lols... my dad change EO for my unser every 5k mileage on his own... he guide me to DIY to change EO for my car... mana tau... u know la...

my dad changed EO for more than 20 times jor... still kena la... lols

Yr dad is only human...and human beings make mistakes...till the day we leave this world wan.
No human is perfect wan...incl mechs @Proton SCs!! 1 reason they dun want car owners 2b near 2cars in wkshop area!!
Feel yu understand wat me trying 2say, rite?
Believe me...things do happen!! whistling.gif

Feel main mistake here was NOT changing 2a NEW WASHER/"gasket" 4Drain Plug...

During my FIRST DIY oil change (b4 this latest), me found that after tightening the Drain Plug the usual way, me cld still tighten it sumore!! sweat.gif
However, me stopped there cos on testing, the plug was oledi tight enuf...it was the copper washer being compressed!!
So @recent latest oil change, me replaced with a NEW washer & yup, it was normal back again!!

ps. Hv since also learnt that the MOST that washer can b used is TWICE (2X) nia!!
And many SCs do NOT replace that cheap part juz 2make a few extra bucks!! doh.gif
That's how me got my SPARE washers!!! Haha! tongue.gif

(Note: SCs charge us RM3+ for it...feel it's much cheaper outside...mayb RM1 or RM1.50 only?)

Agreed, Bro...re yr opinion. thumbup.gif
If kenot eg like me here, observe how good mechs do that procedure. Then go slow when attempting it.
Not matter if yu take 2X or 3X the time. Yr time & skill will improve from experience.
How do yu think mechs get their experience?

Yup! Using OUR CARS as white mice!! Haha! rclxm9.gif

Re yr 2nd comment, me DIY juz as a hobby, pastime & interest...not 4uknowat...cheers.gif

Fyi me once helped as an "apprentice" mech 4a few mths for FREE...after working hrs...juz 2pass time & learn abit....
The official mech cld not find good helpers & he needed help 2refer 2official service manuals on sp procedures so that he cld work on some car probs... tongue.gif

In return, me also benefitted...cld use the wkshop tools & sp equipment eg sandblaster 4spark plugs, and sp staff discounts 4spare parts!! thumbup.gif

btw rim bengkok

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Yup, Bro...
Me hv seen that being done..to a deformed rim of a relative.
Pretty fast & easy in hands of an experienced guy!

However, me wonder...how strong is that part of the rim after all that heating & hammering, etc?
Wld that part juz fracture nxt time one bangs rim @ arnd same area?

Feel if can afford it, it's best 2replace with new rims!
Juz like tyres, rims are very important as they hold the tyres which are the only contact yr car has with the road!!
icon_rolleyes.gif

ps. IINM they do hv X-Ray machines (overseas?) which can chk on the internal condition of the damaged rim b4 & after repair...?
Outward/external appearances cld b very deceiving... hmm.gif

it should be slightly weak due to the heating process... hammering should be not the cause its the heating... as previous my dad unser rim bengkok worst thn this.. the rim fella didnt use heating process only use construction hammer to hammer back... and reuse back and still able to use for 2 years ++ untill the car sold...

Appears so...
And yup, that relative is still using that "repaired" rim till now!! >4 yrs oledi!! rolleyes.gif

Hi Bro... notworthy.gif
Yup, newer version...

And Yup, it's cheaper than can b bought in the super/hypermarkets!
However, me hv stopped using Bosch wipers after discovering they're somehow affected by Rain-X...wipers judder (with sounds) across windscreen when used if Rain-X is applied... sad.gif

Our Ori wipers work fine in spite of Rain-X being applied tho! thumbup.gif

Any Bro has that experience with them?

Juz 2share...

B4 me changeover 2ProRS hoses, there was DIY "Braided Hose" project in ole gen Saga/Iswara threads... icon_idea.gif
Juz use cable ties only. Need plenty of them. Short ones. Better Q if use black ones.
Juz tie them tightly side by side along whole length of rubber hoses. tongue.gif

Theory? To reduce/prevent unnecessary/over bulging of rubber hoses, thereby increasing pressure transmitted 2brakes.
Same theory as steel-braided hoses. whistling.gif

Effect was noticeable immediately esp on old brake hoses! thumbup.gif

Anyone game to try this DIY?

ps. Cheap cheapo & Easy DIY...but need 2crawl under car! rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(dares @ Jan 7 2013, 03:47 PM)
Well cable ties are plastic which deteriorates faster and can be pulled open with enough force, steel braided hose is....steel  hmm.gif

But if you have plenty of free time you can always replace or tighten the cable ties once in a while  tongue.gif
*
SS braided hoses, of course, are BEST!
However, cost of a set also BEST!
Abt RM300 +/- , correct? NOT incl labour charge...
(Last time for my ole gen Saga, cost was RM290 for hoses only IINM... tongue.gif )

Cable ties DIY?
Probably <RM50?
Also NO labour charges....only time & sweat nia! Haha!

Tightening? hmm.gif
If tightened enuf & using the black good Q cable ties, not need frequent tightening...
Me din hv 2tighten my set till me changeover to ProRS abt 1 year later....

Tip in DIY?
Do NOT cut off cable tie cleanly...but leave a short length of the cable tie to re-tighten if needed eg @OCI?

For Bros interested :
Cld not find ole pics of my own DIY on old gen Saga....so sorry... sad.gif
However, managed 2search & found a posted pic of DIY braided brake hoses done on a Wira....

Link of page with pic ===> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/968326/+2120
Pic only below :

Owner used both black & white cable ties... tongue.gif

NB. For better effects, cable ties shld b tied closer than in pic above...shld b touching one another, side by side, with the tie part in a spiral arrangement.... icon_rolleyes.gif

just cable tie it can have real effect ah?

btw, bro, you got GC on your car mah?
*
Yup, Bro...they do! Really wan... thumbup.gif
The drawback is those cable ties need 2b re-tightened as & when necessary (as Bro dares mentioned earlier). whistling.gif

Of course, SS Braided Hoses eg ProRS, wld b BEST! No doubt abt that!

(Note : Me hv tried both b4...juz a question of budget... brows.gif )

Yup, me hv VS & GC.
VS is Zaptor Evolve.
GC passed over from ole gen Saga & modified 4suitable length. tongue.gif

what will happen if the GC is not connected correctly yah?
the nut like engine head part I a bit scare to open. haha~~
*
Yup, Bro...DIY nia. tongue.gif

GC is from batt3 -ve to car body (also -ve). No error shld happen.
For Engine cyl head connection, suggest connect to connector @top LHS which is juz an anchorage point...not affect engine at all wan even uf removed.

Best wishes... cheers.gif

Hi Bro... notworthy.gif
IMHO many ppl do not realise Distilled Water, by itself, is (with its own peculiar characteristics) deemed 2b kinda "corrosive"... whistling.gif

Using a suitable coolant wld prevent corrosion, rust formation as well as lubricate the water pump...IINM. rolleyes.gif
(NB. The anti-freeze property of coolant does not apply in our climate.)
