Hmm, I'm interested as well, I'm looking into the M1 Duo series.. Anyone know the price and specs of that series sold here? How's the quality of LG laptops?

I was handling the S1 during the IT Show in Singapore last weekend. Looks gorgeous and feels more solidly built than the Acer equivalent. The only screwed up thing abt it is that the default screen resolution is only 1280x800 (WXGA) for a 15.4" screen. Someone in the Singapore Hardwarezone forum was claiming that he bought it and could push it up to 1680 resolution though and I'd like to verify that. On the plus side, it comes with a better/brighter screen, 667MHz DDR2 RAM and has better sound quality.

Expensive though. The S1 costs S$3999 in Singapore. The Acer 8204WLMi costs the same in Singapore but is about RM1000 cheaper here so I was hoping that it's sold here at a similar price. The Acer specs look good but I found several faults:

1) Build quality is not very good for this model, even compared to other Acer models.
2) Claims 667MHz FSB but only comes with 533MHz RAM. Not much point, is there? Acer doesn't supply 667MHz RAM modules even as upgrades.
3) Claims maximum 4GB RAM but Acer currently only supplies soDIMM modules up to 1GB, which means they can only upgrade up to 2GB. Again, what's the frigging point?!?!!

True, Acer does some redundunt stuff don't they but maybe that is for future upgrades. Anyway, that was very informative, thanks!

The S1 does cost a bomb!! My budget is RM5k, and I'm hoping to get something with Core Duo (1.66) with Ati X1600 or Geforce Go 7600 and the LG M1 series seem to fall in that category, but I don't know the price in Malaysia though.

Sorry to say, I don't think the M1 wld suit your requirements as it doesn't come with a dedicated Nvidia/ATI card and instead crams in an Intel GMA950 (crappy!). At that range, I think the Acer 5672 would suit your requirements better. Just take note of my comments in the other thread I posted in.

yikes.... thanks for the info... I checked out their site once, and they state that the M1 duo comes with X1600. Guess that's not the case here... Looks like LG is out of my list...

However, the P1 IS in your list by virtue of having the X1400. Just in case you missed it

yah, but the price is too high... 2899SGD, i could have order a Dell inspiron 9400 with Geforce GO 7800 in singapore with 1Gb RAM at 2400SGD with similar specs.
