QUOTE(yetieater @ Jun 28 2006, 07:37 AM) I like the look of the black OEM housing as well. They're comparitively cheaper in Malaysia than the prices on cnn.cn. How's the build quality, and how long did it take to replace the housing? My first try, it took me 4 grueling hours (wasted some time due to the wrong sized Torx screw driver and the external screen which wont fit into the new housing). After the 1st attempt, I take around 30 - 60 minutes to open it and put it all back together. The front faceplate looks like OEM. But the plastic frame on the inside of it (the frame which holds the screw) is not tightly glued to the faceplate. So even if you screw it tight u'll still see a small gap between ur new front faceplate and the body. The same goes for the battery cover. The release button doesn't stick tight to the cover, so one of the side already "tercabut". I guess when u go and search for those non-OEM housings, try to compare with the original housing that you have. Oh BTW, I swapped back to my good old original housing This post has been edited by naziaf: Jul 4 2006, 02:34 PM |

QUOTE(zen10 @ Jul 6 2006, 11:30 PM) Haven't found a solution yet. But I plan to chop off fractions of the rubber to make it fit.Come to think of it, the flip looks and feels nicer when closed without the rubber stopper. It's completely level with the microphone housing at the bottom. Of course, without the rubber, the keypad touches the screen but my screen is always dirty anyway cause I have sweaty palm |

Hi gang,
I dropped my phone 3 times and now the display (and sometimes even the power) is not 100% working. The 1st symptom was that the phone was ON, I can dial manually and receive calls but of course I couldnt see anything on the display. Then sometimes my phone will turn off by itself. And I couldnt turn it on after that. I keep on trying by taking out the battery, leave it for awhile, and then put it back in again. I try to boot up into bootloader mode, the S/W version will appear on the screen (which shows that the screen is actually ok), switch it off. After this the screen will appear white for a second and turn off again. Then the phone can turn on normally. WTF??? So that's always the recovery mechanism, but most of the time I can't get it to boot into bootloader mode. Hafta keep on trying. I checked the ribbon cable on the mainboard and on the display board, I even reseat the connectors, but the problem is still there. Now I notice that when I get to boot up in bootloader mode, the fonts and screen isnt that nice anymore. There are white spots everywhere and the fonts aren't as sharp as before. Seems like the display is becoming more and more defective. Another thing I notice is when my phone won't turn on, and I take out the battery, when the connection on the battery touches the connection on the phone, the BT led will flash once. Something like its getting a flow of current there for a moment (short circuit??). Another thing is when I turn on the charger and connect the USB cable, I can see a small rush of current (or small spark) on the mini USB port. Wow...I think it could be something due to hardware/circuit grounding. Not sure tho. This post has been edited by naziaf: Aug 7 2006, 12:13 PM |

QUOTE(yetieater @ Aug 7 2006, 01:37 PM) You've got guts to take apart that phone~ Did you buy the AP warranty one? Having been dropped three times, I can understand that the phone will be a little quirky. Hi yetieater,I guess curiosity kills the phone after all BTW, I just found out sth. The bootload mode is not actually helping anything. The screen just happens to work when I was booting up in bootload mode, that's why I tot bootload mode fixed it! All this while the phone went into bootloadmode but I can't see it as the screen was down. Haha. How stupid of me. |

QUOTE(skullz) @ Sep 2 2006, 11:18 PM) Does your phone automatically stop playing audio files when you close the flip if you access them using Multimedia > Sounds ? If you play audio files from Sounds menu, yes, it will stop playing when u close the flip. However, there's a seem edit to enable the audio files to be played while the flip's closed. You have to refer to www.motox.info forum for details. |
