i've requalified for silver sometime in Aug - Sep but i dont receive new card & luggage tags.
Last year it was fast, like 1 to 2 weeks after qualifying flight sectors.

is this only for 1 time gift for elite members?

It doesn't matter whether you receive the new card & luggage tag or not, just use your MH number upon check in and you would see that it will be listed as Enrich Silver or Ruby for the One World.
*
that one i know..heck i even carry my classic blue card with the batik motif (ancient, i've been member for the past 10 years i should be lifetime lol) tongue.gif too bad only last year start using MH exclusively due to the timing of flights suitable for my needs.

I'm interested in getting a new luggage tag...that's all smile.gif

I am sure there's a lot of more interesting luggage tag out there  tongue.gif , just hate that they mention my full name on the tag and that drives me nuts mad.gif
*
of course there is a lot more interesting ones, but this particular luggage tags one must fly enough to get mah tongue.gif
and it's cool to see those tags among bags during crew change tongue.gif
no doubt the golden & platinum cards are cooler, but it's so hard to push up to 50 flights a year.

dont want for people to know your name? just gantung it by flipping it over. it's the color that is important smile.gif

*
i always email them regarding my missing miles. it took about 3 to 5 business days for a reply..lol
no problem as long as my miles are credited correctly.

If you have 100k SPG points I would transfer it to Alaska Airlines miles, which would net you 125k Alaska miles. This, in my opinion way, is more valuable than EK or MH miles. Alaska allows you to redeem on EK or CX or KE plus a handful of others.

I only have 44k SPG points, still waiting on what will happen with the Marriott sale.
*
I dont fly others except MH, i fly quite heavily on domestic especially to kch-myy every month.
With a little bit of sector push i try to retain enrich silver just for the extra points. i dont always redeem miles, but when i do it's during peak season like cny whre unfortunately sometimes our crew change would fall on festive season.

QUOTE(digidigi @ Jan 24 2016, 05:34 PM)
May I know usually how you guys accumulate SPG points?
*
For Asian without SPG Amex it's a bit hard to collect points. But there's some other means...use Uber & linked to your spg account, got 1 point for 1 usd, 2 points during spg stays, elite members got extra point.
Gold members got 250 welcome points during check in, platinum get 500
Plus make a green choice, extra 500 and promos.
See your points raking up fast as soon as you hit elite level.

SPG Platinum is the probably the best benefit among all hotel loyalty programs out there biggrin.gif
I do it the hard way...but the system can be gamed brows.gif

I started out with bonus points, but have racked up quite a number just by staying plus as @speedfamgirl pointed out, by knowing what to do.

For example my last stay in the US was ~$1200 for a 9 night stay. With the special bonuses that's available every quarter, plus some bonuses from my Gold status and SPG Amex I was able to net close to 13k SPG points.

If you follow some of the promos going on eg. the 2016 promo in the beginning of the year, one RM330 stay at the Aloft KL Sentral would've netted you close to 4.5k SPG points (2016 new year bonus + 2500 keyless bonus) and that's before other bonuses you may get. If you have a spouse, do it twice, then combine your accounts some time before you want to redeem anything.
*
How did you get an SPG Amex?

Just key in the enrich info in agoda profile.
You still might able to get the miles. Usually miles only award after your hotel stay
*
we'll see about that, the stay is on end of Feb anyway.

Since SPG will be gone soon, my next hotel loyalty program is anything i can accrue Enrich miles like Hilton or Agoda tongue.gif

Maybe you can try to look at
Kaligo
Rocketmiles

Also hotel booking sites that give miles. If i remember correctly, rocketmiles will give sign up bonus of 3000 miles
*
These 2 sites not really beneficial to me since i'm only travel domestic.
Agoda is good enough if it works, otherwise for future business travel i will choose Hilton.

Let see if Agoda somehow gives more miles than Hilton tongue.gif

I just booked on agoda and I noticed that there were 2 rates. One with Enrich miles and one without. Needless to say, the rate without the enrich miles was cheaper
*
I checked it out & yes you're correct.
but the difference is minimal like rm20 more for the extra enrich miles. depending on the situation if the price of the rooms are NETT then might as well get the booking with miles included

7% discount + 5x TP from MBB2Card Amex better choice

TP can change to enrich miles too..

I dont have MBB2 Card...

QUOTE(dctravels @ Jan 27 2016, 11:13 AM)
Agree to the above. I've used Rocket Miles, Points Hound, Kaligo and Expedia to earn miles only if the price is similar to what I would be paying say through the hotel's or other sites. Unless you have status in hotel loyalty programs which will score you upgrades and/or other freebies, it's a no-brainer. You can get miles through referrals as well so a bit of creative work and you can earn a lot quickly.
*
Ok.

I have top status with SPG, Hilton & Hyatt and as always book through the hotel's website to get the benefit.
Unless i have to stay anywhere that have none of these hotels in the location or a boutique property then i would see what options would i have.
I'm not an extravagant jet setter though would keep some miles for redemption on super high session like CNY where i need to fly on that date.

There's finally some updates on the codeshare with Emirates but I am furious to read about the following:

Can I redeem my Enrich Miles on Malaysia Airlines codeshare flights with Emirates?
No, currently you cannot redeem your Enrich Miles for travel on any MH4000-MH4999 codeshare flights operated by Emirates.
*
Rugi lah...I was thinking if we can do the opposite, or any of the OW members partner by transferring my SPG points to any of them & book for award ticket for domestic MH flights...unfortunately almost non existent doh.gif

GG la my Starpoints....i dont have any travel plans in the next few months where i can find a Starwood hotel to burn them before it getting obsolete

OK so i made a little search & found that it transfers to 1:1 points, which sounds a bit rugi.
but then m'sian spg properties are pretty affordable by cash hence i seldom redeem them.

And redeem award MH tickets not eligible for flight sector really makes me a bit meh...

haish...

Hmm didnt know that auto upgrade to biz class (im only a lowly silver member) at the gate the original ticket later not eligible for flight sector/miles...

Cant complain though, at least had the chance to board A330 back to Kuching with that new biz class seat, and of course better food.

Probably an experience of a lifetime, but after being so loyal to MH over the years it's time to move on...miles devalue kaw2 mcm no point to collect anymore.

Didn't know the use 330 to Kuching again?....they took off the 330 service after the then new 737-800s arrived....
*
Not sure what happened on that day, they changed the aircraft from original 738 to A330...delayed about 30 mins...probably a special case since there was some big shot from military on board the aircraft as well (i dont think this was the real reason).

My last experience using wide body plane from KL to Kch on 2009...cant remember what's the aircraft model but it was as large.
