it has been anticipated to have such bad inflation rate since they have 'announced' their organizational 'refresh'

basically just wash and rinse then repeat, if no good card, then dont bother change to enrich dy

you might be better off going with AA points at this deteriorating rate

but AA ... 1 points of Airasia just equal to RM 0.01 no ...

hahaha sorry my bad for not clarifying further

it was a sarcastic brush at MAS for inflating the points while service/value remains unchanged if not worst

while taking a quick swipe at AA too for useless points from the start anyways

that said, if MAS continues to worsen, we might even see a day where it comes true that AA is more valuable than EM - AA convert to other membership points, that is

Quick question.

Has anyone tried transferring points or booking flights via One World member airlines?

Can share with us the process / difficulty / duration etc?

Am no longer interested in using Enrich points in MAS.

There is no means to redeem with other Oneworld airlines with the MH App or website, you will need to trial and error the target airline and sectors for availability, and the call the CS to get them to book for you.

Although SQ App have a Star Alliance and "partner airline" option in the redemption process, you consistently also get no options available too.

The Airlines alliances are not as tightly knitted as we would like to think. The only service that works consistently is using status to enter alliance airlines' lounges, get priority seats and boarding. Even that, you can run into trouble with QR.

Thanks for the information, and in regards to the airlines alliance, I definitely agree.

Its definitely not as tightly knitted, its the "terms & conditions" or offerings on their website that I am trying to make use of.

From customer point of view, it does not matter whether they have clear procedure about this with other airlines, they have to sort it out as its not my problem. But of course, they can just choose to deny service in which I will again question their operations brows.gif

So far i see is it this best for collect enrich point Rm3.5=1EP

I think there is plenty of cards that are way better than RM3.5 per 1EP depending on your usage.

Alliance Bank's RM3000 cap each for 8x tbp (ecommerce + ewallet) is an example.

With RM6000 spending (3000 ecomms + 3000 ewallet) you can easily earn ~RM2 = 1EP

Or Maybank's world elite overseas ~RM2 = 1EP

So it really depends on your spending pattern to maximize it

Anyone know how much 1EP worth.. roughly?

No exact answer because it also depends what you are redeeming for

Biz class ticket?
First class ticket?
Economy class ticket?
Partner airlines ticket?

So it all comes down to what you are redeeming for, compare the cash price of the ticket if purchased outright, then compare to how much miles needed if purchase miles / amount needed to spend (AND ALL THESE ARE NOT TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION OF PROMOTIONS ETC)

But basic rule of thumb, avoid economy class redemptions unless you really have to do it - go for biz class and above, 3 hours flight time and above

Always go for the higher class tickets whenever possible to maximize "returns"

-----------

Additionally, I advocate for mindsets where you are redeeming the experience, rather than the convenience of the tickets

In another words, you generally won't spend money to buy a first or biz class ticket if you are not so well off; so normal people wouldn't have easy chance to come by to sit biz / first class. Therefore you should experience this kind of luxury made possible by your normal spendings. This is especially true if you want to take your parents to vacation or travel, chances are, if they are hardworkers in the past and living frugal life, they have never experienced such luxury. So as children, you may use your "bonus" to treat them for an pleasant experience on top of saving their poor backs from long flight durations.

But of course, if you have other priorities in life than flying with airmiles, then you would not be searching or asking through this thread anyways (cashback would be then preferred)

To be an airmiles fan, or even to maximize your returns via airmiles, you really have to do the non stop digging for your best rewards, and it takes alot of conscious effort to do it - one senior pointed out before >>> The original TS of this thread.

Thanks for your advice! I am currently earning 1.5% cashback for my overseas spending, not sure if it is worthwhile to earn EP instead.

Is there a way to check EP required for my trip to Korea next year ?

You can login to the MAS website.

Under the booking selection, toggle on Enrich Redemption, then select the dates desired to check flight availability, class and also points required (do note that if you lack abit more miles to hit, do know that you can purchase enrich points in your account).

Also note that currently bonus 10% conversion from bank > enrich points, validity 1 year(s)

Enrich bonus conversion

Advice, if you want to redeem your points, check early and book early, usually popular destinations and dates will sell out really quickly

All the best

No worries, take your time.

Just remember when you redeem such tickets, there's often still charges for the airport tax / departure tax if any, so do take note.

Meanwhile, perhaps you can start looking into newer routes / aircrafts as MAS have new A330's delivered. Then you can enjoy the latest and greatest.

Just be mindful for ewallet there's a 1% charge these days, and not everyone will be able to spend 3k on ecomm.

For MBB, there's the monthly limit so might not be able to change in time.

HLB one is much easier if one is lazy, furthermore it also includes insurance and utilities which I think a lot of other credit cards exclude these days.

For now, Shopee / Lazada wallet still eligible as well as Setel (until its over).

But till then, I think its still worth while to consider. Of course there is other loopholes that you can exploit, but you will have to dig it out yourself.

Overall, it still comes down to how tight you wanna keep things in order to earn the miles / points. Some may forgo the points for convenience, some chase it down to the decimals, personal preference.

If one is serious about earning points, even your spending channels will change just to get the miles / points.

i.e. If you can choose to buy your groceries online (assuming same price or with discount vouchers) as physical store, you would choose to spend with your CC.

i.e. If you can choose to pay your bills via aggregators instead of direct payment to avoid MCC code identification.

i.e. If you can choose to purchase via official third party than direct channel i.e. RM1 = 1KFmiles if you buy in Kris+ for iPhone 16 pro from SG (plus its slightly cheaper, so can cover the CC charges) versus you buy online via Machines / Shopee / Apple which is RM2 = 1KFmiles.

Emirates is a partner airline and follows the same redemption table as other OW and non-OW partners:
https://enrich.malaysiaairlines.com/enrich/...s/emirates.html

SIN to DXB to LHR is 7054 miles and I believe a connection like this can be booked as a single flight in the Zone 4 bucket.

You cannot redeem for First class so you are looking at 202,000 points in Business return or 92,000 points in Economy return, plus taxes. The taxes often mean long-haul economy redemptions don't make any sense compared to buying a cash ticket.

From the Award Chart you will see the Business rate is cheaper than the Enrich Saver rate for Malaysia Airlines so these partner redemptions can make sense.

The tricky part is finding availability - this is true of any airline program and there are a number of third party services designed to help as only select ticket fares are actually redeemable for points; e.g. https://seats.aero/emirates/departing/SIN?o...Region=Anywhere

It would make sense to find availability first and then call the MAS Call center or visit the or Malaysia Airlines Ticket Offices for booking as they do not have special tools nor expertise in finding reward flight availability.

Any recent experiences redeeming that you can share?

End to end process if possible, to give a good idea on how it works and which channel is reliable.

But from what I can understand, you described the process as

1. Search for award seats (generally third party)
2. Call CS to do redemption
3. Obtain tickets & travel

Now, the first few questions that I can think of would be:

1. Do we redeem Enrich points direct? or do we need to convert to say skyward miles first?
2. If enrich points direct, the rates are essentially as reflected above?

Thanks in advance.
