Hey guys, was wondering would you get economy elite miles or business elite miles if you buy an economy class ticket and upgrade to business using miles.

Thanks.

Melbourne to KL business cost 34k Enrich Miles. Is it worth it to redeeming?

Isn't it better to redeem (under current promotion) Adelaide return at 40k Enrich Miles? Fly domestic to Melbourne and back again to Adelaide for return flight to KUL. smile.gif

i think it is the same, 20k/way is promo while 34k/way is standard miles required.

I just called Malaysia airlines to check about the surcharges and taxes for KUL-London-KUL. Charges now is RM1562. As per the official the surcharge and taxes to london is change day by day...Does anyone redeem this trip before? RM1562 consider expensive or cheap? My trip depart on 18 dec 2014.

The charge at london is a killer, you can land any Europe destination it will cost the same but fly back from Paris it will be cheaper. (assuming you want to be on A380)

Cheapest would be Amsterdam but they're using 777 on that route.

QUOTE(bearbear @ Mar 20 2014, 03:39 PM)
bro MAS use A380 for both Paris and London, 777-200 for Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

I play a little with the system with business class; seems like to all 4 europe destination if you buy 1 way ticket from KL to respective destinations the tax is flat at RM740.

The difference is coming back
1. London - 352.25 GBP
2. Paris - 235.54 EURO
3. Frankfurt - 222.69 EURO
4. Amsterdam - 171.70 EURO

So it doesn't matter where you fly into but get out from Amsterdam for cheapest tax at RM15xx. or if you insist A380 the best is return ticket via Paris Rm18xx

Is simple, just play with the system on buying the ticket with money or redeem with miles. Then see is the tax, surcharge still remain the same.

As people have mentioned already, the London Air Passenger Duty (APD) is the highest among all the European airports. It's actually higher for business class passengers too biggrin.gif but it's charged only on outgoing.

If you have the time, fly in to London and take the Eurostar to Paris and fly out from Paris. You'll end up paying the same price total even after taking into account the Eurostar tickets but you get to visit 2 cities in one trip. But you'll have to play around with the dates, this obviously might not work a week before Christmas.

Enrich Miles up to 50% discount not for flights to London and Melbourne sad.gif

But we can get 50% discount for return to Paris. Those who want to get luxury handbags, now it's a good time (before 15 Oct) to redeem a ticket to Paris, hahaha. Click here to read my article Paris, New York and London to see Boy Chanel and Lady Dior handbags prices. Took more than a month for my tax rebate to be credited into my credit card.

Guys, I have a doubt which i need to clarify.

I recently booked a ticket during the recent enrich promo. But the ticket doesn't state the baggage allowance.

I know certain airline wont give full baggage allowance as per normal economy or business class ticket for the award/redemption tickets.

I have booked economy on the outward sector and business on the return leg as i require more baggage allowance during my return journey.

What member you are in? Silver, gold or platinum?
If you are going for vacation only, I doubt you want to go beyond the "normal" maximum weight unless you are working, then yes. those extra allowance matters. Like my friend each time come back will buy lots of things as they only come back twice a year.

You can carry 4-5 luggage(air port staffs allows as told by them), but it will be tedious when you carry them. Those Middle East fellows always carry > 2 doh.gif

Hi guys! Need your advise.

I need to fly to San Francisco in the middle of November but MAS doesn't fly there anymore.
What is the best option? Is it possible to use Enrich Miles for Cathay Pacific under One World?
Any other possibilities?

Thanks.

Yes you can use Enrich on Oneworld partners. Please google up the Enrich award chart for Oneworld redemption amounts. Cathay is one partner, alternatively there's Japan Airlines as well.

Mid november is heavy travel period though, business and first class is mostly gone and for some dates even economy class is all sold out. Best to book quickly or better still buy with cash.

Thanks for your info. You're right, the redemption rate is not attractive. Bye, bye business class ... hopefully still get to travel EVA Air deluxe class. tongue.gif
