Chevrolet's Tahoe and Silverado hybrids, for example, completely shut down if they run out of gas. There's no coasting—and no limping to a gas station on the battery, even if the main battery is fully charged.

By contrast, Toyota's Prius, as well as the similar Lexus CT200h and Lexus HS 250h sedans, will indeed run on battery power even if they run out of gas, but not for long. How far they can go when the gas is gone depends on how much of charge is in their batteries and how gingerly you drive. With a strong charge prior to the gas tank hitting empty, some owners have reported being able to drive up to 2 miles without gasoline.

However—and this is important—the Prius won't let you drive the main battery down to absolutely no charge. When the battery becomes discharged to a certain point, the car is programmed to fire up the gasoline engine, which normally would recharge the battery as it propels the car.

Last time i used to drive a kenari. Now when i drive PC, if i use the same behavior to drive, without kooking at the energy monitor or eco score live feed, i manage to get good FC. Means i always hav very good pedaling (shy XD)

Im not sure, but i think few rules hav to be followed to get hyper miles.
Going to try 2nd tank with normal driving behavior

Enlightened me. I do always turn on the Eco Mode.
*
In fact, i usually drive wif eco mode on too. I off it when i know im going on highway which required no brake n sudden acceleration.

So eco mode is required while driing around the city? It gives better FC as braking and accelerating are more often?
*
When Eco mode is on, climate-control operation is minimized and throttle control regulated to boost vehicle efficiency. <-- Theoritically

Acceleration is retarded, give even smoother yet slower acceleration to avoid sudden/over acceleration. Thus, FC is better. A/C i dun feel much diff actually <-- What i feel.

I observed the opposite.
105km/hr =22- 24km/l
95km/hr = 26-27km/
85km/hr= 29 -30km/l
60km/hr = 33 -34km/l

These were observed for PJ -Melaka trip, about 160 km
*
Really? Sound like it depends on the driver's behavior and route case I guess?

I drive 65km (home->work->home) per day daily. This is the way i drive:

1. When battery is charging using fuel (on a straight road), drive abit faster by constant slow acceleration to boost recharge.
2. When battery is (almost) full, try to drive at 60km/h by using battery power only.
3. Drive faster when going down to the slope, drive with constant speed when climbing a hill by allow battery power kick in to assist.
4. Always forecast the traffic at the front, start releasing pedal to let the car roll slowly if stop is required soon, drive as if I dont have to brake.
5. Avoid idling. Always.
6. Accelerate gently.

Guys, please share if you have done more than 27km/l with average speed more than 90km/h. To calculate it, just divide the mileage by the time (in hour).

*
hmmm, this is not accurate. If the route have alot of stops, it brings down ur average dramatically. Unless the reading is start in the highway i guess?

How do you get the battery power kick in to assist? I have been driving PC for a month and only get battery power kick in for the first 5 seconds. After that, solely fuel. When I do constant pedaling, speed drops.
*
oh this is tricky brows.gif

You have to increase ur pedal alittle when the battery assist went off, then the battery will come back again. Slightly alittle will do, by controllling the same speed, or very slow acceleration. If u press more than that, pure fuel power wil be used to climb the slope.

Today is my 10th days driving PC XD. Total road trip 1000km dy... Besok service~

Hmmmm, after few days of testing my driving behavior, these r my results

Behavior 2:
1. Drive as I dont have to brake.
2. Let the car roll when going down slope.
3. Always allow battery power to assist when going up a slope. (require some training on the right feet rclxms.gif )
4. Drive slow (EV mode kicks in automatically) in the city or housing area.
5. Drive fast (5-10km/h below speed limits).
6. Forecast the traffic ahead
7. Do not drive like a turtle on the road. Time is money.

Trip 1 - Selayang to Glenmarie
Trip 2 - Glenmarie to Mont Kiara (forgot to take pica) whistling.gif
Trip 3 - Mont Kiara to Glenmarie
Trip 4 - Glenmarie to Selayang

All trips consist of stop, slow traffic, jam, going up n down slopes, highway.

Results:
1. Not bad icon_idea.gif
2. I enjoy my ride, as I drive fast during highway
3. Alot of tar collected on my white PC. Any good tar removal to recommend? Im using Kit's, doesnt really help doh.gif

hi guys. one question about my prius c, milage of around 8000+km.. recently i have been hearing sounds of "clack" from the rear-left side of the car everytime i accelerate.. i think the sounds comes from a location where the electric battery resides. everytime i accelerate (slowly, still in EV but not EV mode) i can hear the clack sound. and sometimes when i accelerate even more where the engine kicks in, i can hear the clack sound, and the sound appears once for every acceleration i made below 30kmh.. is this normal? i dont remember hearing it before this.. you know, the sound is like, we stretching our hands and it's the same clack sound that comes from the bone at the elbow.. so it's kind of creepy.. haha.. pls get back to me asap, im a bit worried about the car.. since i think it comes from the battery compartment..
*
Is it coming out from the rear seat? Cos im having the problem with the clip or positioning of the rear seat at left rear seat. I often can hear some weird sounds when im turning or driving thru bumppy road in low speed
