Has anyone here managed to bypass HD audio (DTS-HD / Dolby True-HD) via HDMI to their receivers? From what I've been googling, it seems that only the Asus Sonar card can achieve that feat but its a pretty pricey card.
Anyone else willing to share their success story? If it can be done, I can consider getting a Blu-ray drive for my HTPC.
Thanks in advance!

^ Nah.. the whole idea of bypassing HD Audio is to see those magical words appear on your AVR.

Has anyone here successfully played mkv movies that are remuxed with Dolby TrueHD and get the HD audio indicator to light up on their AVR? If so, mind telling the graphics card and software used ? Thx in advance!

Thanks to ronaldjoe, he pointed out where I can access that overscan settings on the ATI 10.1 Catalyst center. Got the MPC-HC to bitstream Dolby TrueHD on Fifth Element but about 40mins into the movie, the audio starts to get out of sync. Darn.. Also, u can't fast forward too which again messes up the audio. Why do I get the feeling this MKV with HD Audio is not ready for main stream yet. BTW, I found these 2 links to be pretty useful http://framestor-hd.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=285http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1370499This post has been edited by welwitchia: Feb 7 2010, 01:39 PM

Hey ShenTon, when u use MPC-HC to decode HD audio, can u drag the search slider around and still have the audio resume? In my case, if I use the slider, the HD audio gets all messed up and the AVR indicator flashes like mad.. Anyway around it? Thx! QUOTE(ShenToN @ Feb 7 2010, 09:34 AM) bro ronaldjoe, I guess 57 and 56 series is the same. U must make sure u using the correct build of version . Especially MPC-HC and the FFDShow version. Now even my PDVD9 bitstreaming HD audio too

Don't think my processor is slow. Its a quad core with 4Gb of RAM...and MPC says its using DXVA.
I'm now playing Dark Knight BDMV with MPC-HC and I notice the audio is slowly getting out of sync again..
Can u give a list of your software and its settings?

Using ffdshow for audio as well as mpc-hc. If i drag the slider to anywhere, the audio is about 3-5 sec ahead of the video.
Oh, do u have anything checked on the Internal Filters of MPC-HC?
I just tried a BDMV with DTS-HD and all I got was DTS. I'm definitely missing something here.
Another question. When I reformatted the PC, I removed the sound card as well but I've read that people actually install the Realtelk HD audio codec? Sorry if this sounds dumb, but does the ATI 5 Series card actually have an audio chip inside? I thought all it does is pass through the audio. Again, if it does have a sound chip inside, do I need the Realtek drivers?
Thx in advance.

The latest is 2.41. I upgraded it and I honestly don't see any difference.

Hey Shenton, can u capture screenshots of your MPC-HC Internal and External filters? I find the setup to be unnecessary complicated.

I might be wrong on this one but if your main concern is bitstreaming Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, the ATI 5 series cards are a safer bet. Hmm... I did a simple Google for u. Looks like the Nvidia GTX 260 is out of the question. Edit : Wait, the article at anandtech is OLD. Almost 2 year old. Are we looking at the same card here? If it is, why buy a 2 year old graphics card? QUOTE Unfortunately there's no support for 8-channel LPCM or bitstreaming of Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA. Source : http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3334QUOTE(shahruls @ Feb 16 2010, 08:23 PM) Hi,need ur help. I got offer Nvidia GTX 260+ Batman Edition(2 month old) for rm500,is that gtx 260 can support true-hd&dts-hd for bmdv movie? i plan to connect my pc to avr(yamaha 663) to my 42inch plasma tv,currently i'm using wdtv 1 for mkv movies but it not support bmdv movies & got some problem with some of my mkv collection, hopefully i can play all my movie collection with this pc.Another choice is new ati 5670 that is cheaper around rm300.tq 4 ur opinion This post has been edited by welwitchia: Feb 16 2010, 10:23 PM

You need the .170 patch for TrueHD Streaming on the TMT3. QUOTE(minimize @ Mar 1 2010, 06:44 PM) BTW i'm using TMT3 on vista, it say trueHD pass through but no sound at all in my receiver.

To stream using TMT3, you have to meet the following 2 requirements 1) patch .170 2) HDMI audio driver installed must be ATI and NOT Realteks. QUOTE(minimize @ Mar 1 2010, 08:53 PM) I'm using ATI HD 5570. Running on win vista ultimate
