QUOTE(zweimmk @ Feb 4 2010, 03:42 PM) I'm planning to build a HTPC myself based on the following: Windows 7 Home Premium Core I3 530 Asus P7H55 M-Pro Mainboard 4GB RAM 1.5TB WD 64MB SATA HDD Pioneer Blu-Ray Drive (Optional consideration) Wondering about what to use for the casing and remote control. Any suggestions would be most welcome Good spec, instead Pioneer , you can get Sony BDROM , rm220 i think..possibly you need high end GC with HDMI output..and of course FULL HD LCD Monitor.. QUOTE(zweimmk @ Feb 4 2010, 04:07 PM) It will only do 2 things - Watch Blu-ray on my 40 inch LED TV and download torrents So there's no need to any high end GC. I'll consider the Sony BDROM - cut some cost. Now have to figure out what to get for remote and casing. Oh, then you may consider Cooler master casing..

QUOTE(minimize @ Feb 4 2010, 09:06 PM) Hahaha, must wait. Hope it will reached malaysia next month. From its spec, this GC is perfect for my HTPC in both video (bluray) and audio (DTS-HD/TrueHD). It just consumes 19.1 Watts at full load. Perfect with my 220W PSU. Technology.. keeps our pocket empty.. nice gc btw..

QUOTE(pierreye @ Feb 24 2010, 11:08 PM) For HTPC, I suggest you look for configuration which can output HD Audio through HDMI. Your setup could be: Core2Duo or Core2Quad with ATI 5xxx series video card. or i3 or i5 with H55 or H57 motherboard which support HDMI audio. That's tempting , but how much roughly the cost could be, maybe i need to get prepared..

QUOTE(pierreye @ Feb 24 2010, 11:13 PM) If you do not need gaming, i3 + H55 should be quite cheap. I think cheapest board around RM 400 + RM 300++ for i3 Thanks for the info..IMHO the current setup that i have is far enough for my personal use..

QUOTE(kianwee @ Feb 26 2010, 10:13 AM) Peter, I think he meant graphics card. Not sound card. The only graphics card that supports bitstreaming loseless audio is the ATI 5xxx series. Ok, i'll check it out as soon as possible at the "best trade source in MYS" LYN..
