forgive me, but who's that chewkl? any reference or article on this in malaysia?

For magazize, u can read the HWM Malaysia April issue.. They have article on HTPC..

QUOTE(chewkl @ Mar 15 2006, 11:07 AM)
Just do a search in google on HTPC lah. 1/2 day will get U all the information U need to build 1. It's pretty simple stuff, only thing is some of the needed parts cannot be easily bought here. (Like the remote control) :swt:
*
So,one of the easiest way to build a HTPC with remote control is to get creative sound card..From lowest price one, Audigy4 non-pro until highest end X-fi Elite Pro also have bundle with remote control and software..

A HTPC is just like a normal PC but u use it to replace your DVD player, Tuner, video recorder, etc, becoming a All-In-One solution. For me, one of the component cant to be missed in a HTPC setup is the wi-fi card. As most of the video i watched is .rm format. Thus, i need to use wi-fi card to access the video file downloaded in another room PC..

When my new house is ready, im planing to use this MSI Mega PC as HTPC..but it will be used in room..hehe

It has been bundled with Media Centre with remote control.. So, what i plan to add on some HDTV capable Video card, wireless keyboard/mouse, TV card, Dell widescreen LCD or 34" CRT TV and Edifier S2000 speaker system to become a complete entry level HTPC...it will be a 2.0 sound system in my plan..

Current Spec:

MSI MegaPC 180
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
80GB Samsung HDD
Kingston 512MB Dual-Channel RAM
Integrated Geforce4 MX
Nvidia SoundStorm
Edifier MP210
Lite-On DVD Combo
Internal wifi card built-in

The emu anlog card has no support so it was bending upwards (downwards after I terbalik the casing) which would hack shorted and get killed if one didnt pay attention....some electrical tape did the trick.

The stupid pci locking mechanism was totally F up..I spent almost 30 mins trying to align the pci cards properly.

Asus M2NPV-VM came with component video output? drool.gif

will you ever be going near the htpc to use the touch screen at all? lol

RM2k+ for a casing seems absurd to me...2k+ could get you some very good audio equipments. My casing can hold 3 hdd but I decided to install only 2 in it and slap the others in my server so that other pcs could access it..and i dont have to worry about heat/noise/power issue biggrin.gif
*
Any issue u found on your mobo? i plan to get same mobo as u biggrin.gif
Any comment on the nvidia 6150 performance on your mobo?? Thanks!

friend, i don't think the ASUS M2NPV-VM can fit into the cm260 due to the pcie/pci slots layout of ASUS M2NPV-VM. unless u don't plan to use any slots .... good luck.

i got the audio out of sync too. i tot u guys own x2 cpu should have enuff juice... now i dun plan to upgrade liao...
*
I try on ffdshow upscale/resize to 1280x1024 on AMD64 3000+ with 512MB ram..lagging with sound out of sync..CPU usage over 85%

On AMD64 x2 4200+ with 1GB ram, CPU usage under 30%..no lagging and smooth.. The upscale effect is quite nice... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I wonder if there is any insider news regarding Astro plan to  provide digital output to match LCD TV that is increasingly popular. In that way, we can use Astro digital output to the HTPC for better PQ.

Dont think so fast ASTRO would broadcast HD format on ASTRO platform... The use of HDTV/LCD TV in Malaysia is still low.. In addition, most film publishers for ASTRO still in SD format and none widescreen format..

The recent ASTRO MAX with recorder inside also hv pretty low acceptance by malaysian.
