mpc-hc support video acceleration for intel i3/i5 + H55.

In fact I think Atom + Ion is not a good buy anymore for HTPC. You can get H55 ITX board with low power i3 which give you good performance and idle at around 25w. The plus is you get dual stream 1080p for blu-ray + HD Audio.

I prefer this than Zotac Mini-ITX. Running on H57 chipset.

Hey gurus,

I'm looking to buy or build a small form HTPC and to connect it (as well as my other devices, PS3, Mede8er, etc) via HDMI to an AVR. Mind sharing your thoughts on this?

If build, what are the common specs?
I'm guessing I might need to look around and buy different parts...

If buy, what brand?
Something like the Dell Zino HD which looks enticing.

Pros and cons between the 2 stated above.

Thanks!

What the price for this mobo? Looking for ITX mobo for i3 but Zotac H55 mini-itx is too high for me. If only they come up with other model with out wireless and cheaper, probably will be a good buy.

Not many soundcard supported it, the highest profile one is the auzentech HD, but it could be expensive.

I am also looking to improve sound output, but willing to wait till the market ripe for such hardware. It will be common place I believe in due course.

Peter, I think he meant graphics card. Not sound card. The only graphics card that supports bitstreaming loseless audio is the ATI 5xxx series.

hi Kian Wee,

Win7 media center + media browser is cool!
I try it out ... cool interface to manage all the media file and choose directly at a glance. It works perfectly for all media file i tried out but not iso file. It lagged when i play BD iso file with powerDVD9 which i plug in into media broswer setup.

Kindly advice ifany solution for it. Thanks

Danny

I have TrueHD sample file. managed to bitstreams by using my 5 series ati notebook. work as expected.
but I dun have DTS-HD MA sample file. do you have?

what I did is:
ATI 9.12 hotfix driver
Realtek R242
MPC-HC
ffdshow rev3274
EDID Override

my PDVD9 failed to bitstream, I ignore it...prefer MPC-HC.

I have 7.1 TrueHD demo disc file (8GB) and DTS-HD (100MB) sample file.
It is mandatory to use EDID? How to set-up? notworthy.gif

BTW i'm using TMT3 on vista, it say trueHD pass through but no sound at all in my receiver. sad.gif
