Radeon HD 5570

Anandtech calls it the perfect HTPC card at the lowest possible budget.

Now I think the HD 5450 is out, but not as yet here locally, which I think is pretty soon!
Here's Anand's take on his latest article about the GC choice for HTPC.

Does my bluray movie on PC ran by Bluray ROM has to do anything with " must have a good GC" thingy?

For HTPC, I suggest you look for configuration which can output HD Audio through HDMI.

Your setup could be:
Core2Duo or Core2Quad with ATI 5xxx series video card.
or
i3 or i5 with H55 or H57 motherboard which support HDMI audio.

My new favorite for HTPC frontend now is Media Center 7 + MediaBrowser. It's better than MediaPortal as I can't combine multiple share drive into one virtual folder. With WM7 + Mediabrowser, all my different HD movie can be combine into one virtual movie folder so I can access my movie from one view.

If you do not need gaming, i3 + H55 should be quite cheap. I think cheapest board around RM 400 + RM 300++ for i3

NVIDIA GeForce 210 graphics card is quite enough to play bluray movie. But you cannot enjoy HD audio with this card. biggrin.gif

mpc-hc support video acceleration for intel i3/i5 + H55.

In fact I think Atom + Ion is not a good buy anymore for HTPC. You can get H55 ITX board with low power i3 which give you good performance and idle at around 25w. The plus is you get dual stream 1080p for blu-ray + HD Audio.
