I have this issue too b4, I solved it by reset all in the general setting, reset the apn setting too, than restart phone. The make sure the network is manual, choose network manually instead of auto network, then check if the 3G icon appeared or not, if still no, then toggle on off the airplane mode n c whether the icon will appear or not.
