I'm back with more questions now...hope to get some help urgent

I'm using Illustrator CS2, the printing company ask me to do layers for printing, first i thought separate text and graphics layer. and then expand the text so that it can be read on other computers without having original font. but apparently it was not what he wanted

I found out that one needs to do Color Separation (CMYK). What the heck is that?? i've looked around the internet, but no detailed step by step instruction on doing that.

Can any sifoo guide me to any link or maybe write down how to do it. your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

they will charge more to do color separation, if i can do it, then might as well i do it myself...after all its not a one time job, almost second day got something to print.

if no easy way to do it, then it seems i will have to pay them to do it sad.gif

Color separation is where your files will be output as CYMK films - cyan, yellow, magenta and black for the printing process. This is usually done by the color separator as it needs some certain program and some good experience to do it. Try to get some color separator companies to do it for you :
1 You gonna make a lot of mistakes by doing it yourself if you're not sure about its step by step process - NOT recommended DIY
2 Color Sep companies will adjust everything for you and will do the color proofing upon request( color proofing is for the printer to refer so that they know what color will come out while printing)
3 The printing company is going ti rip you off in terms of payment
