there have been ppl saying the us version of the COD2 game doesnt work on their ntsc/j set

well,let me further claarify this for u,
Call of Duty 2 (NTSC/U) works on PAL & NTSC/J(Japan only) systems , NOT on NTSC/J(HK/TW/SP) systems

works only on JAP ntsc/j console and pal

anf for the ppl who bought the asian COD2 only to find out the game they got was PAL

anyway the game is quite easy to play and understand. i played story mode just now. 1st thing to do is choose a game then its like playing board games. not a bad party game which can support up to 4 ppl smile.gif

Yes. Scratching my head!! At first I thought it was a non-compatible
game disc. But when I pop in the NTSC/J game which came with my
Jap Xbox360 - it shows the same message too.

Now, I am currently playing PGR3 and no problem whatsoever.

Are you 100% sure of that? As i have checked at sg wang, they are generally selling the NTSC/U version and since in Malaysia the NTSC/J xbox 360 version is more than PAL system, and if the moto gp 06 ntsc/u version is only work on pal system, why are they selling that version instead of the PAl moto gp since it works on both ntsc/u or ntsc/j.

because there already a demand for ntsc/u title because before this they got sell few ntsc/u console, and they already have supplier for ntsc/u. i don't think there are any demand for pal title.

Hi, they sell Pal version for both Xmen 3 and Hitman, so i am just wondering, doesnt matter which format, i just think that it makes more sense to sell pal since it is region free for all system especially ntsc/j since it is in malaysia and most ppl use that version of xbox 360. And i saw that in your region free list, Moto GP 06 NTSC/U only region free for PAL, if anyone have tried it on NTSC/J and it works, someone please update it in the region free list. Thanks, Oh FYI , imbi mario sell the ntsc/u version, so i just been wondering and need comfirmation.

the answer is depends. ntsc-j is cheaper than ntsc-uc or pal, and is easier to find in malaysia. ntsc-uc are more likely to be released first before other region if the game developer is from north america, such as splinter cell and gear of war. for pal, well they really late and over priced, avoid at all cost unless you gonna migrate to pal region country. tongue.gif

Saints Row already comes out on 28th August (US Version) and 1st September (Asia Version). Bullet Witch Asia version was released early August but sadly it only has Japanese Language with Japanese / Chinese subtitle. US version is coming out next year.

buy the asian version, coz:

1. the games are easy to find and cheap
2. u don't need a stepdown transformer for asian version
3. usually some shops carries warranty directly from microsoft singapore(for asian version only)

if u ask me, i dun mind paying a couple more hundred bucks for cheaper games and the warranty.. rclxms.gif

is hard to figure out what policy MS has regarding region lock vs free for MGS games. GoW being launched in similar time-frame worldwide is region free for all versions. yet some reports suggest Viva Pinata NTSC/UC is playable on NTSC/UC and PAL only. is this because Asian version will release only after the JPN version nxt yr? weird.....

OT : Does the DVDO/crystallio converts 1080i to 1080p ? Cant find it in the crystallio website, but the dvdo does say something about converting interlaced to progressive

Does that mean my tv (1080i) will display 1080p ? Or it wont show coz my tv cannot support 1080p ?

I am not an expert but i believe the conversion process is only applicable for its source....and the end output is always limited to your display capability. This is just my understanding on conversion process..n i might be wrong here...

Both Crystalio and DVDO processors can covert sources to 1080p. But, feeding a 1080p signal to a native 720p or any HDTV that has a resolution below 1920 x 1080p would lead to a beyond limit error. These processors are also commonly used to reduce noice and interlace artifacts. You might be happy with the processing or scaling capability of your TV or DVD player, actually most HDTV's have better scaling than DVD players. Normally feeding a Telly with it's native resolution gives the best picture. But with these processors your Picture quality will be far superior than what your DVD player's or HDTV's can output. This will give you a noise and artifact free picture with smooth filmlike images that is bound to impress everyone.

I hope the US Bulletwitch is region free. The Asian version sucks. It's better if Microsoft Singapore release it again in english with US enhancements. The same is to be said for NTSC U/C Blue Dragon. BTW, I've checked their website and there is no MOH Airborne, Virtua Tennis 3, Earth Defence Force 2017, Alone in The Dark, TMNT, Armored Core 4, Two Worlds and GRAW2 in the upcoming games section. Does anybody knows whether the Asian version is to be released? If they are not, I hope the US version is region free. Educated consumers like me cannot be tricked easily like the what happened with the current bulletwitch and blue dragon Asian version. They think we are stupid or what? releasing it in Jap and/or chinese language ONLY... Not all of us are foreign language literate and we want to enjoy the story and experience since we paid a premium for it. They should treat us like kings since they take so much from us. I rather wait for a properly translated game especially a story heavy game like RPGs. not a rushed product to cash in on the hype. (Blue Dragon... they know we like RPGs. that's why psone and ps2 is the market leader last time)

erm, WEX NTSC/J Asian is another example! really disappointed with konami, imagine if they make a metal gear 360game and we get NTSC/J Asian with Solidou Snake and jpn text! tongue.gif

to be fair, i think bullet witch NTSC/J Asian was only added into xbox taiwan catalog. also a sticker on fornt cover saying "japanese language"

and the blue dragon (1st print) also has "japanese version" on its cover. its confirmed there'll be at least another two versions of BD NTSC/J Asian supporting at least chinese & korean coming soon. i'm betting english support will also be included thumbup.gif thumbup.gif remember back when BD NTSC/J Asian jpn was released in dec07, the SGP marketplace have a blue dragon advertisement/banner? after the SGP community (retailers+gamers) show no interest, the advert/banner was quickly taken down laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yeah. I hope they don't take us lightly. We mean business. Especially singaporeans. They have to release NTSC U/C based games as NTSC/J here. Look at Wii. Wii is rumored to be released in Malaysia and it's the US system and NTSC U/C games. We want same quality as what US gamers get. Games must come in english (voiceovers and text with japanese language option if possible). I don't care if we are kiasu or 'gwai loy' come here in droves to buy cheap english xbox 360 games. They want to lock asian games on asian systems, by all means, do so. As long as I get my games in english. I hope they've learnt their lesson and released games in tandem with US releases. What US gets, I want too. Faster if possible.

since most 360 games are factory pressed in SGP, Asian gamers are getting games as FAST and of similar QUALITY (95% catalog) as US counterparts icon_rolleyes.gif

I know but when I check the SG website, their upcoming releases are not on par with the US website. Made me worry about US games not going to be released in the Asian region. I don't want a repeat of SNES and Sega Saturn days where many jap RPGs were left untranslated. Examples would be Final Fantasy 2,3 and 5, Grandia, Seiken Densetsu 3, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Romancing Saga, Ys, Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean to name a few. I hope my worry is unjustified and I can continue to enjoy my Xbox 360 for a long time.

[eM] NSTC/J Asian was localized by From Software & co-published by Microsoft Games Studios especially for the Asian markets.
Enchanted Arms NTSC/UC was published & localized by ubisoft for the western markets.

Correction. Trusty Bell is Eternal Sonata (sounds better IMHO). Infinite Undiscovery is also on my wishlist too. Not to mention blue dragon, lost oddysee and cry on (are they the same???), Mass Effect, Too Human, KOTOR 3 and Jade Empire 2. I'm looking for cheap 2nd hand eM. If none, "ahem". LOL. Not to bash that game, but its got some gameplay issues like auto placement in battle so it's not actually very fun. Moreover, an enhanced version was released on the PS3. mad.gif I hope that version is rereleased on the XBOX 360 or it will be an insult to us. They could use multiple DVD9s like Blue Dragon. If they treat us nicely like that, it wouldn't be hard to persuade people to buy. Like say... "Hey, look. the enhanced version of eM was also released on Xbox. why buy ps3 now???" Hope they release MGS4, DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma and 2 on Xbox 360. then there will be no reason to buy PS3 until FFXIII comes out.

why dont u guys modded ur xbox360 ( firmware flashed mod ) ?

Mine already moded and can play all 360 originals and pirated games.So i think im not worried bout the region.

sorry i have not been reading all 13 pages. i couldnt do so cuz i'll need to get to my books ASAP. exams next week. i apologize if this question have been asked.

my console was bought from England and it runs PAL. i couldnt play games like Winning Eleven X and Fight Night Round 3 becoz of the region issue. Is there anywhere i could buy games for my region?

You can always check out Play-Asia for games for specific regions. If you're lucky, you might even find the region-free version for that particular game. Happy hunting!

Aiyo, a modded console doesn't make your XBOX 360 region free my friend, try playing NTSC/U version of COD2 on your JAP or ASIA console, see if it runs or not. tongue.gif

You guys don't need to but PAL games from UK because Australia is much more near. In Australia Xbox360 is also in PAL system. So, just ask someone in Australia to buy it for you. Or you can ask me to buy it for you because currently I'm in Australia (of course with some pocket money lo). Or you can look for websites in Australia which selling Xbox360 games.

No 2, Check this site for region compatibility game Play-Asia xbox360 region compatibility
No 3, buy the suitable game accordingly.

fyi, PES 2011 for xbox360 is only for NTSC U/C (US console) and PAL region (Europe, Australia console). Other than that it is called Winning Eleven 2011 for NTSC J and Asian Console.

it better not to get PAL console. the games are only available in Aus, and EU. On top of that, its Pal games are slightly expensive compare to Asia.
