hey bro,.

is there any straight direct command can tweak the openwrt 3G wan MTU to 576 via Putty SSH ?
*
hey bro,

i dun have openwrt with me now...u may try the following command

1) run ifconfig to identify your 3G wan interface

2) if u have identified it as 3g-wan, then run below: -

ifconfig 3g-wan mtu 576

3) then run ifconfig again to compare the mtu per 1st ifconfig output

if anything goes wrong, you may reboot the router. hope this help.

1) Download PuTTY - http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

2) PuTTY to your OpenWrt using SSH connection type

3) Enter the same login and password from WebGUI or LuCI

4) Then run ifconfig and identify your 3g WAN like below: -

3g-3g Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:1.2.3.4 P-t-P:1.2.3.1 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:3986 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:3950 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
RX bytes:465666 (454.7 KiB) TX bytes:456150 (445.4 KiB)

Note: My MTU is 1500 and I using Celcom 3G. Maxis 3G inside my house only able to get EDGE.
